Need your input

Hello,

Well I've been running my system for about 2 years now slowly upgrading as time goes on. I'm currently running 2 120hz monitors and I've been happy with the performance of my system so far. I noticed recently that I took a huge fps hit when I tried playing Farcry 3 on max settings with all the filters on. My question is should I upgrade my video card or will OC my cpu will be enough? If I need a new video card what would you suggest?

Here are my current specs:

Case: NZXT Phantom Full Tower (White)

Motherboard: Asus Sabertooth P67 TUF

Processor: Intel i7 2600k

CPU Fan: Zalman CNPS9900MAX-B

Ram: 16GB Corsair Vengance 1600

GPU: Gigabyte GTX 470 OC

Power Supply: NZXT HALE 850

Storage: 1TB WD Black

              256GB ADATA XPG SX900

Thanks

CPU is fine but looking around and the year it came out I would to say a new GPU will becuase my 6870 has trouble. I can not recommened any GPU becuase I do not know how much you can spend tell me how much you can spend and then I can tell you. Also if you do not have money for another GPU just turn down your setting alittle bit.

Well cost isn't really an issue for me but I think 300ish is a fair limit.

Do have a personal fav. like AMD or NVIDIA.

Also is it just games or do you edit anything and what is you Resolution you play at.

Fan of Nvidia due to dual boot with Ubuntu and I do use Adobe Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc. I have 2 monitors running 1920x1080 @120hz

get a 7970, and sell ur 470

well, the adobe stuff makes a diff then. get the 680ftw from evga then. still sell the 470

Ok thanks. What do you think is a fair price for the 470?

the diff between ur budget and the price fo the 680

For AMD since photoshop works faster with AMD http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814202007 or http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161429

For NVIDIA http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121656

But it is up to you what you want.

Really? I thought adobe like the CUDA of Nvidia?

yeah, it does. not sure why he's reccemending an amd card for adobe. adobe doesn't have open cl on their products....

get the 680 or 670 from evga

Oh sorry if you have the newest photoshop CS 6 it has opencl. So if you have CS6 and only use photoshop then use AMD but you have a later version of photoshop then use NVIDIA. Adobe is slowly make all the CS programs opencl. So sorry for the confusion.

Ah ok well thanks for the suggestions.

Hope I helped if any at all peace.
