Due to circumstances, I cannot connect my rig directly with an Ethernet connection, thus I have been searching through the interwebs looking for a Wifi Adapter module of any sort, USB or PCI, that will work with Linux OS, specifically Ubuntu 14.04. The WiFI adapter I am currently using is the Linksys WUSB6300; yet I have not been able to get that to work with Ubuntu as the process required to get it working (from the various sources I have found) are WAYYYYYYYYYY beyond me. I mean, Im aware of how to use the terminal to some extent, yet the 'help' Ive found baffle me completely.
So, might anyone know of any Wifi Adapter modules I can get that are compatible with and will work with Ubuntu 14.04?
Here is a good comment that really helps picking an adapter. But before you buy anything please try this, all you need to do is open a terminal, copy each line in one by one (could do it all at once but just one by one to be safe), type your root password when prompted, and afterward reboot after you've put in each command.
Don't worry about the second part of what he says right now as it is for reinstalling the firmware after your kernel has been upgraded. So save those instructions somewhere as you will most likely need it in the future
It is for reinstalling the firmware after your kernel has been updated, so if you get a kernel update and your wifi stops working you know what you need to do now :)
Dude, thank you so much for the help. Due to your instructions, I was able to get Wifi adapter module up and running on Ubuntu! You literally saved me $20 dollars man! Thanks again!
