Need Urgent Help with Workstation Build

So, I just received an E-mail from a local company, whose name and owners I will keep in private, that needs us (My company) new Workstation PC´s in less than 2 weeks, problem is, I don´t really know a lot about Workstation style components, Nobody that works with me really knows that much about Workstation components, since we mainly specialize in gaming PC´s, so I decided to go to the one place were I could get "Semi-Professional" help from you lads, so here I go:

The things they requested is kind of a weird mix, they need a NAS, with these things:

  • At least 20TB of space

  • Some sort of RAID config, they don´t care which as long as it is fast

  • Be able to run Virtualization OS

  • Expandable storage and upgradability

Budget: $2000 (I already have some idea of what to use, so for this particular build, I´m just looking for suggestions!)

For the other 2 main editing and rendering PC´s (They use a very wild mix of programs, but for main reference i´ll let you know they use some version of Linux Mint, so components that play nicely with LINUX please) they want/need:

AMD Cards with each at least 2GB of buffer in SLI (max of 3 cards)

Very fast storage, maybe more than 800MBPS and more than 512GB´s of space

2 CPU´s (Obviously Xeon´s)

64GB of DDR4 ECC Unbufered RAM or at least 32GB´s

Be able to connect to at least 6 Monitors each

10-Gigabit Ethernet Card

Budget for each PC (Since they requested 2 of them): $4000

(In here I would really like some help, if one of you guys knows how a lot about these components please let me know ASAP please)

If possible, I would ask you guys to leave a pcpartpickerlist with only amazon shipping, since I live in Ireland and that´s the only company that ships here, thanks in advance and have a fishstick!

I am going to be honest, some of the prices you have given just aren't realistic or at the very least are going to be VERY close, if you're a contractor that has to mark things up you wont have much room for profit. Depending on the conversion rates you're looking at 1500ish (I round up here just incase) in hard drives alone for the NAS and thats before any sort of decent controller for the drives and then you are limiting yourself in the through put available. This is assuming you are building the hardware yourself for freenas or some other sort of open source NAS os. You mentioned virtualization though so I am not sure your intention was the end up with only a i3 or a lower end AMD cpu, depending on what and how many virtual machines you want to run you might have to revise this budget. If you're talking about running a file server and maybe an exchange for a small business a I3 or low end AMD would suffice.

800 MB/s of storage isn't hard it's making sure you can find a dual CPU board that isn't server grade that supports it. The only ones I have used are from Asus, they run $800 (Z10 PE series, price is CAD) and they do support NVME SSD's but it requires they be installed in the PCIE slot the M.2 on board does not support NVME. Will they need redundancy or is that handled by the NAS?

Do they have a minimum core requirement for their software? This can change the Xeons you are looking at drastically, especially if the software licenses per core.

I will mention AMD and Linux do not play nice together at the moment. That is supposedly changing but unless they specifically request AMD or they have stated they have someone who is comfortable working around the issues presented, I would suggest using Nvidia cards purely for the amount of grief it can save.

I just contacted the guys from the company yesterday and it seems that they want some CPU on the NAS with at least 4 cores, which is stupid since originally they told me they wanted to run Virtual OS´s but with 4 cores they won´t be able to do it. And my company only builds the machines and give the owners to choose their OS, but they want FreeNAS which we don´t do, so they will do any tweaking to make their hardware work better with whatever software they decide is better.

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/CNFZ6h I think this is more than fine, give me suggentions!

Ill make an update on the rendering machines!

Is this for NAS storage?
Because then something like this might be interesting.

The only con, it does not have 10Gbit ethernet.

here is a list of parts I would use http://pcpartpicker.com/p/8XkDGX
the only thing not on there is a raid card which you would need to provide the number of ports required for the number of drives I have included. The reason for 5 drives is to at least have 1 drive for redundancy and still get your 20tb of storage, otherwise you are either running without redundancy or you're running without 20tb.

this is a quick off the top of my head B85 is supposed to support VT-D im not 100% sure the processor does however so you may want to check that or replace it with the xeon you had in your original post. This also shaves quite a bit off the cost. Again this is intended as a file server and maybe a small exchange they wont be using this to VM desktops.

Mhm do you know if I might be able to add a PCI 10Gbit card on that Mobo? Because 10Gbit is essential though

Ill ask them if they would be fine with the list you made with some minor details I´m going to make, ill let you know an update later.

This is the final build until the moment since I was able to convince them to spend $2500 for the NAS, until @MisteryAngel answers me back, if adding a 10Gbit card to that Asrock Mobo is possible, ill go with that one instead of this one: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Z4PfNG.

Rendering parts list coming soon!

UPDATE: My customer is comfortable using AMD, but they say that they could adapt given the situation with AMD and LINUX right now, I have to say, I did not know that these issues were present, and even I use AMD and Linux with 2 PC´s I have. They still want me to include AMD Firepro cards in there, so if they find any problems later, not my problem!

Just some more info on what things they are going to be doing:

  1. They film in 1080P so I told them they don´t need 32GB´s of RAM and they were like... yeah we know lol.

  2. This is the parts list!

Need suggestions, but I already did my research and this should be fine, I even got a way to get Newegg items here, we have a PO Box in New York and I´m going there in 2 days, so ill bring the stuff with me.
