I was playing some battlefield 1 and my pc started having some issues. I have a 4790k @ 4.4 and a 980ti. Ussually when I play games my CPU never goes over 52C and everything is smooth and fine. While I was playing I noticed that I was getting alot of FPS drops and during these drops my audio would go quite and then loud again, kind of going along with the stuttering and lag. So I went and checked what was going on and my cpu was sitting at 65C, which its never hit that high on water. My hardware monitor also showed my cpu running at 100% load, so there is some bottlenecking that started.
Can any of you think of any ideas thats causing this? CPU dying? Motherboard issues?
What sort of cooler do you have on it? Is it water cooled with a custom loop or a enclosed all in one unit? 65c isn't hot for a cpu, it wont thermally throttle for a while yet. If you have an all on ine cooler, the pump could have stopped.
Does task manager show anything using all your cpu time?
It's a corsair cooler. Didn't check task manager at the time. But ya 65c isn't worrying even though it's never gone that high. It's that my game and audio was freaking out when it was hitting that high
If the pump had stopped working wouldn't it have kept on getting hotter? Also why would it go to 100% CPU usage and mess up my game? Seems like it's something else. Now that all being said I noticed the LED on the cooler has kind of flickered every once and a while. Could be a random occurrence though not relating to anything
As others have said, if it throws a fit only in BF1 it's either a game or a driver issue. Are your drivers up to date? I just had to update mine for my 980 Ti because the driver kept shitting the bed.
Welp. Case closed. I decided to redo my CPU overclock and all is well. Did everything the same as my first overclock but now my pc is happy I guess? Fickle bitch
