I recently built my new gaming PC and I'm running an i5 4670k with an H80i. I decided to do some overclocking(I am a noob at it) and I was able to get it stable to 4.2GHz with 1.18 Volts and I'm getting mostly below 80 degrees(Celsius). However I tried to up the overclock to 4.4GHz. I was getting a blue screen on start up until I upped the Vcore to 1.25GHz. And it all worked fine, however I'm getting up to and even above 90 degrees on some cores(when I stress test). I've got it back to 4.2GHz on 1.18 Vcore but I want to try and get a higher clock speed. Any suggestion on how I can do that without changing the H80i and melting my CPU? I've got a Gigabyte Z87X-D3H.
Nope.
Stable Overclock needs Voltage. Voltage makes more heat.
The only way to OC more would be a better cooling solution.
Ok. Thanks for the fast reply :)
