Need some help

For christmas I was planning on building a pc but my mum said I have to buy one.. So I'm getting a PC here it is and please tell me if there would be much bottleneck with the CPU :)

Intel Celeron J1900 quad core @ 1.99ghz

4gb ram

1tb hard drive

Gtx 760/750ti

How well will this PC run games? And thanks :)

That would be a very hard bottleneck. If you were to get an AMD Athlon 760k, and overclock the snot out of it, which would be way faster than the J1900, the 760K would still be a bottleneck in games. To get a great gaming experience from games today, you would need a quad-core CPU with L3 cache. Also, because the J1900 is a SoC, the platform is also very limited with PCIe bandwidth, only 4 lanes maximum, meaning you will probably have 1 lane available to the GPU as the rest would be used for other expansion, such as mini-PCIe for wi-fi, etc.

Your best bet would either to get an AMD AM3+ system with an FX6300 ( and overclock it), and, hopefully (if AMD keeps socket compatibility), upgrade to 8-core Steamroller when that releases, OR, get an entry level 1150 platform. The CPU options for that would be the Pentium G3258 (AKA 25th anniversary edition, AKA Pentium K) and overclock that, or, if you don't plan on overclocking see if you can squeeze a Core i3, as two-threaded CPU's aren't that great for gaming. It would leave an upgrade path for Core i5 or i7 Broadwell chip whenever that releases.

+1

Also consider the R7 265 or R9 270, as both should be better performance than the GTX 750 ti

  1. the J1900 sucks
  2. you'll want a total of 8GB ram
