Hi. So, I just got my new PC. This is the first one I've build myself (with some help from a friend.) I'm a total newbie at this, and would like some help with the BIOS on the Asus Maximus VI hero
The ram sticks I bought are 1600mhz, but in the BIOS it says they are set to 1333mHz, so if anyone can help me fix this, i would appreciate it.
Also, considering this is my first time building, and setting this stuff up by myself, if anyone has any other tips for me, what i should do, and other things i should check for etc. it would be really helpfull.
Playing around with the hardware was a big enough challenge, for a first timer like me, but of course I didn't have the foresight to research anything about the software. I would appreciate any help, really, but please keep in mind that I'm a newbie at this, so simple answers would probably be the better option.
Thanks in advance, and thanks to all the people on Tek Syndicate that managed to help me get this far.
Reboot then enter the BIOS via pressing F2 or Delete at the Asus logo boot screen. Once in the BIOS go to either AI tweaker or your memory settings and change the MHz to 1600. Don't mess with the timing though if its 1600 MHz RAM already then the timing is likely fine.
If the Bios is like my Maximus VI Formula then in the BIOS.
- Ensure you are in "advanced mode" - if you are it will say so at the top of the screen, if not there will be a button some where that says "advanced mode" click it and it should go to it.
-Under the "Extreme Tweaker" tab find the setting the says "Ai Overclock Tuner"
-Set it to "XMP", the board should auto-detect your ram and set the correct settings.
-if that does not work set it to "manual" and set the settings that your RAM is specced for, after looking them up of course.
^listen to this guy. I believe F7 is the option to switch between the two modes. I don't know what the easy mode is, but ASUS should have never included it. It is useless.
Finally managed to try it out, and it worked. Thanks for the help, and the step by step. The XMP worked, and it should all be working fine now. Really appreciate it
