Need some help with a 5970

Hey People, i need your help with my first gpu Upgrade for years:

I got a very cheap ati radeon 5970 and put it in my gaming pc:

Mainboard Gigabyte EP45-DS3

CPU Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3.6 GHz

But the screen stays black :(

I tested the gfx card in another Setup with only 550watt psu. Everything worked like a charm. 

I just bought a 750 Watt psu with 8 and 6 Pin pci-e Power connectors, still the same result. 

I unplugged all other energy powered Devices like Hard drives... 

Does my Mainboard Support that gfx card? What am i doing wrong? Die you need more Information?

the problem i seem to find is the motherboard, not the psu. your motherboard isn't the best for running a higher end gpu. the core duo should be good. if it doesnt work after trying a new card, than it's driver issues and you should contact AMD.

1 thing to look at is.....how heavy is the card? Is it sagging when it's installed? If so, it may be puting stress on the PCIe slot and not making contact.
