Need some help regarding my next upgrade

Hello, i'm going to upgrade my cpu and motherboard ( i currently have an amd Phenom x4 and an Asus m5a78l le), and i'm going to upgrade to an i5 4690k and an Asus Z97M-Plus.

I read somewhere that if you change components it will deactivate your Windows, does this happen? And if, how do i activate it again? (I'm using Win 8 Pro 64bit)

Thanks :)

my windows skills are last century, but here's what happened to me in a similar situation.

i went from an asus x58 to the asus H97m-plus and win8.1 pro installed fine. 8.1 did not detect the nic (i would assume 8 would not as well), so the serial number went in okay, but it couldn't phone home so to speak. then i installed the nic driver and everything went fine. hard to remember but i think there is a place in the install that asks if this is new or remembering old settings and i just went with new.

the drive i installed it on is a similar drive it was on earlier, it was on an intel 320 and i installed it on an intel 520. i guess same for the mobo, both asus/intel... i was worried that an upgrade to a sandisk might york the install due to hardware changes. i'm not sure what value the os assigns to hardware to detect things like this.

i use clonezilla and save the entire disk to another drive or a place on the LAN and if i have a problem i can  put things back together. i doubt the new install would deactivate the original install.

for a spell i ran 8.1 on two machines, but i have since moved from the old machine entirely.

Okay, thanks for the input.
