Need some feedback, GTX 780 vs R9 290X

Last week I posted which graphics card I should purchase for my current system  http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2D9Sn  It was between the GTX 780 and the R9 290 (not the 290X).  After listening to your input I bought the

EVGA 03G-P4-3784-KR GeForce GTX 780 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI Support Dual FTW w/ EVGA ACX Cooler Video Card

I paid $519.00 for the card.

Now I have the opportunity to buy a

PowerCooler AXR9 290X 4GBD5-MDHG/OC Radeon 290X 4GB 512-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 CrossFireX Support OC Video Card (BF4 Game Bundle)

for $549.99

Should I send the GTX 780 back and buy the R9 290X?  I am playing on a 1080p monitor.  I just want a beast of a card.  Any input will be nice.  Thank you.

the 780 is generally better, unless you are thinking on overclocking the r9 290x. for my opinion, you should keep using the 780

I would keep the 780. I think they are both fairly competitive cards, and you will see some variance in performance between games. I know that early overclocked benchmarks at 1080p favoured the 780. It was neck and neck and 1440p, and then the 290x destroyed everything at 4k.

So for your individual needs, gaming at 1080p, I would conclude that the 780 has the highest cost benefit. Arguably the higher performing card, and cheaper.

Also, EVGA are a preferable vendor. They have good customer service.

Same as mentioned above, cost/performance.

However, you should also note the 780 with the ACX cooler is going to run not only cooler than the 290x, but cooler than a normal 780.  Thus it'll have more overclocking overhead and a theoretical longer lifespan.
