Need recommendation on comfortable, wireless, closed, over ear headphones

Mic is optional and I'll pretty much be using these exclusively at work. My existing headphones are 10 minute headclamping pieces of crap so pretty much anything is better but ideally I need something I can wear comfortably for ~8 hours +/- a few hours + a few breaks etc.

Price isn't that important (within reason) and sound quality isn't nearly as important as comfortability/price.

A 2-3 tiered recommendation would be nice whereby each tier has the minimum of some kind of wireless signal (bluetooth, 2.4ghz, etc) + over ear comfortableness and each tier would have an increasing price to sound quality ratio.

Another minor consideration is appearance. Bland and unexciting is preferred.

Thanks, any recommendations are much appreciated. I know little to knowing about whats good/bad in the audio world.

I ended up going with these: http://www.amazon.com/Bluetooth-Wireless-Over-Ear-Headphone-Carrying/dp/B00MCCN8E4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1416344337&sr=1-1&keywords=wireless+over+ear

Check out these ones:

 • AKG K845 BT
 • Beats Wireless
 • BOSE AE2w Bluetooth
 • Harman/Kardon BT
 • JBL Synchros S400BT
 • Klipsch Image One Bluetooth II
 • Pioneer SE-DRF41M
 • Sennheiser RS170
 • Sony MDR-HW700DS

My personal favourites are Sennheisers.

Hope it helps

Thanks for the list however I think most of these are high end. Looking for low-mid ($50-$150). Definitely a lot of nice headsets to look at though.

 • AKG K845 BT - $300 - putting a pin in that
 • Beats Wireless - $300+ - ditto but did find a $200 over-ear variant
 • BOSE AE2w Bluetooth - $250
 • Harman/Kardon BT - $238 - funky square earphones not so much
 • JBL Synchros S400BT - $170ish - much better price but these are on-ear, did find over-ear variant
 • Klipsch Image One Bluetooth II - great price ($120) - on-ear and not over-ear
 • Pioneer SE-DRF41M - $300
 • Sennheiser RS170 - looking very nice at $180 but the stand/transmitter dealio adds $100 to the price
 • Sony MDR-HW700DS - $360

(supposed to be an HR here)

Some of what I found based on the suggestions:

A Sennheiser:

That looks like a stellar option to me @ $125 wirless over-ear - lots of squishy foam. I'll very likely grab those but they do have one minor pitfall - can't just plug them in every day to keep them charged as they have removable AA batteries instead of an integrated lithium cell.

Edit: My god the WYSIWYG is doing just terrible right now with this post - 20 edits later I give up

Never, ever, EVER, get Beats. You'd be paying for their marketing costs and not material costs if you buy them (aka, they're built cheap).

Yeah I don't think I'd ever buy beats anyhow. They reeked of marketing bloat plus I think they are affiliated with apple?

Apple owns Beats or Monster Inc (who own Beats) or something.

Marques Brownlee has a good video on Beats:

Apple recently bought beats, yes.

As far as the original question, can you reconsider the need for wireless? It is pretty easy to get long headphone cables that would work plenty well. I really hate the idea of the extra weight of batteries, the need to recharge (or replace) the batteries, the added cost, etc associated with wireless headphones. That said, if you are dead set on getting wireless, then give us a real price range and I will see what I can do.

EDIT: and tell us what you have for the rest of the system. A dac/amp? Straight from the mobo? What do you have?

Sennheiser RS170 actually won a test together with BOSE headphones. The point of the stand is, that you can connect up to 4 of those headphones (sold separatelly) to one transmitter. The stand also works as recharging station and I personally love the way it looks. They can be bought for like $200 here, so in case you like the way they sound, you can always find them cheaper in US.

Harman - yes, its kinda their style, modern, clean, minimal. I understand that it may not be your cup of coffe.

Beats - from those i have listed they r the least expensive. Available here for like $180. They focus on bass range, good for some type of music, but definitelly not for me..

EDIT: I see some of your prices differ from mine. For example PIoneer SE-DRF41M are below $170 here.

The Sennheisers seem to fit the bill pretty well.

Awesome vid - I concur.

Wireless is definitely a minimum requirement moving forward for me and any headset. Mouse and keyboard not so much.

The weight argument is negligible in my opinion and I don't have a weak neck so doesn't matter so long as it fits well on a head and doesn't slide off. If anything it's the long headphone cable that adds weight/tethering into the picture.

I always plug my phone in every night as is. I can usually go 2 days before needing to plug my existing gaming headset in. Really very negligible concern here also.

I mentioned about a $50-$150 price range +/- in my 2nd post. I've got nothing special so USB, BT, or something else that can hook up easy to a PC (mobo) and provide wireless audio.

I'm not interested in top dollar audio quality, just "good nuff" for idle background music while coding at work. Again my primary concern is comfort. My current cheapo headset is definitely "good nuff" @ $40 but it is the most uncomfortable hunkajunka I've ever worn.

I do very much like the RS1#0's models with up to 4 but its a complete waste of potential at work (just lonesome me listening). I'll revisit for in home use at some point.

As for the pioneer I think there is an offset with regard to US/UK.

I will someday buy these to replace my current ones but that doesn't have anything to do with work.

The current SoundBlaster ones are still really good and quite comfortable but are starting to get a little rickety from drops/wear n tear. Damn good for the price anyhow.
