Need opinions on my new PC Build

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/BrCn3C

390 or x or a larger nvidia gpu

http://pcpartpicker.com/parts/partlist/ added a 390, is this the right 390? and is it a lot better?

sorry here is correct link http://pcpartpicker.com/p/XjQ2gs

Msi 390 is fine yes.

wait im confused, is the MSI 390 better than the gtx 970? When i look at benchmarks the 970 is much higher but @Freaksmacker said to go with the 390

Depends highly on the games you play.
Some games run better on the 970, other favour the 390.

i see, you think GTA 5 would run a lot better with the 390? thats the main game i will play by far

its a pretty close call between both cards at 1080p in GTA5 i think.
But you could look up some recent benchmarks.

That and if you are moding DX 12 ect...... I favor Amd for price for performance plus as at stands has a more favorable future in dx 12. Kind of longer view that might change with the next gpu releases. Either or should be okay ?

for reference

390 has better raw performance. The reason 970 is better in many games is due to Nvidia having a hand in the game devs' pockets on most big game releases. Also 390 looks like it will take advantage of dx12 much better than the Nvidia cards (since dx12 is basically mantle with some other stuff).

thanks for the recommendation, im definatly going to go for the 390 for my build. also, i changed the RAM, would it be worth it? i got ddr3 2400 16gb memory instead. would the 2400 be better? it was only a little more money and the ram i had before was 1600

What kind of ram does the mother board support ? That will determine what kind of ram and how cheap you can go on it.

it says DDR3 motherboard, but pcpartpicker says there is no compatibility issues, is 2400 ram a lot better than 1600?

I looked that up and got ddr 4. I check that mb closely to be sure. dd4 2133 would be fine

i added it and it said that ddr4 ram is 288 pin but the board only supports 240 pin, should i just go for the one i had before? also would 8gb of ram be fine rather than 16?

Goto the manufacture's website and double check and see what they recommend for the motherboard. I keep getting ddr4. 8 gigs of ram is fine for just gaming. 16 is nice if you multitask while gaming :)

RAM speed doesn't matter too much for gaming. I just find the capacity and price then get the fastest I can at that price.

thanks for all the help, do i also need to buy a sound card to get sound? or is that just for better sound? also does the case come with fans? or do i need to get some

Don't get a sound card your motherboard should have pretty descent sound and if your looking into better sound look into usb dac and amps not computer sound cards. Your case and most cases in fact should come with fans.
