Need Opinion - Gaming Rig(budget ~$700)

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/LEF5

Note that the GPU, PSU and SSD are being salvaged from my current ancient gaming rig, count that out of the budget.

My concerns are as below :

Is this build fit to be labeled as a popular gaming rig ?

Are there any improvements to the build that you could suggest given the same budget ?

What should I pick up as my ATX tower case ? (I'm using liquid cooling, need a tower that could manage my cables and pipes and im looking for a tower case that could last a while for future upgrades)

Thanks !

If it's a gaiming rig, your main focus should be to upgrade your GPU, rather than your CPU. I would strongly advise you to salvage your old CPU, and buy a new GPU. What CPU are you using now?

I am not getting, is the 700$ for the case without gpu, ssd and psu?

Don't be spending your money on a water-cooled i5 when you really need a better GPU! Let us know your budget, what system you already have and we will be able to get you the best gaming rig for your money!

For case, if consider the NZXT Phantom 410. $90 for The black version on Newegg.

Unless you have any particular need for the i5, I'd get an AMD fx 8350. It's better in most cases (all but strictly single core processes) and it's cheaper. I would pair it with an Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0

Im running on a dinosaur age Intel Core 2 Quad Processor Q8200 which is socket 775. 4 gigs of crappy 800Mhz ram. So Im actually thinking to upgrade, or should you say, UPDATE the obsolete machine so that it could run the new games released recently.

the $700 budget are for : case, processor, mobo, ram, heatsink. The rest of the missing parts are being salvaged from my ancient machine..

im actually considering Intel since AMD boards are more geared towards graphics rendering programs

For $700, you will have to make sacrifices you don't want to make for an intel, considering that both the CPU' and mobos tend to be more expensive. Why do you have your heart set on a new CPU anyway? Is I said in my last post, you need to be focusing on your GPU, as it determines about 80% of your performance in most games.

The 3570k is only slightly better then the 8350 btw

well then is it viable for me to only upgrade my gpu ? will the current ancient rig im using right now hold back the performance improvement potential of the newly installed GPU, say a GTX670?

the main reason of all these is actually for me to seek advice on the gaming build on which i should build off with minimal budget of $700 so that I could run games likecrysis 3, farcry 3 and stuffs and still have the room for upgrades in the future. Thanks in advance

i would like to salvage as much part as possible, reason being I have just bought most of the parts mentioned above such as my Gpu, Psu last year.

Your GPU, SSD, and PSU are all perfectly fine, don't listen to people telling you to upgrade your video card. Since you are going for a $700 build, I would suggest going Intel as it is cheaper than AMD while still maintaining the same performance tier. An i5-3570k and a MSI Z77MA-G45 motherboard along with the RAM you have selected are more than sufficient for gaming.

I really don't see anything wrong with what you have right now. Are your games really taking a hit when you play them right now? You do meet or exceed what is required of most games out at the moment. How many times do you intend to play Crysis 3 (a game created specifically made to make builders crindge at playing super ultimate max settings)? In reallity, you own the most popular system out right now.

the rig that ive posted wasnt my current build, it is what i intended to build, looking for advice on the parts ive picked and the viability of the salvaged parts , my current rig is an obsolete socket 775 core 2 quad Q8200 Intel processor with only 4 gigs of 800 Mhz ram along with the mobo , im experiencing input lag even when playing games like planetside 2 during large scale battle

Intel is actually better with rendering and editing. AMD is for gaming and multitasking.

well this particular Intel processor doesnt have multi threading, however the AMD ones with more cores does a better job at graphics rendering in this scenario, thats my opinion.

For gaming a 3570k is just fine. Hyperthreading the the only real difference between that and an i7 and gaming doesn't really use the hyperthreading. That case is a bit expensive and there is not much need for a full tower if you are using mATX anyway. I stand by my list. I hope you find what you are looking for chucknorris1985.

........

Full tower cases are being used for better cable management and better airflow, doesnt make any difference what type of board you 'll be putting in...

Btw, your build id ridiculous, you are advising him to but OC-ing cpu and a MB that is highly not recommendable for OC-ing
