I just purchased Trine from the Steam summer sale. I downloaded it, fired it up and it just won't work. The first cut scene plays, then the first level starts to load and when the narrator is talking about the "Astral Academy" the game exits out. I've verified the files, tried uninstalling and redownloading, etc. Nothing seems to work. I read a page on the Trine support page on Steam, there's a link to the developer's website, but the link just keeps timing out. So, I was hoping that someone here could help me make this game work.
Hey guys, Joel from developer Frozenbyte here - this sounds like an issue with PhysX. Trine in its original version needs the separate PhysX drivers to be installed, they can be found in the game directory or from NVIDIA, http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_system_software.html (this is regardless of your graphics card).
We're just doing a Beta for Trine Enchanted Edition which has PhysX built-in and won't require the separate drivers, so you may want to give that a shot too (it's an improved version of the game on the newer Trine 2 game engine, including multiplayer and other things).
