So i built my og in June 2013, and it has been working excellent until now. I've got this problem where in the middle of gaming it will shut down, and won't boot back up again. The LED around the power button lights up for one second, but then nothing happens and i'll press it again but then the LED won't even turn on.
My specs:
Processor: AMD fx_8350
Motherboard: gigabyte 990xa-ud3
Ram: Crucial ballistix 8GBx2
Graphics card: MSI 660ti PE
Power supply: Corsair CX 600
Hard drive: seagate barracuda 2tb
If any of you see the problem i would really appreciate response. Also i couldn't Find an appropriate section for this, so i thought this would be the best. Thank you.
have you tried reseating al the power connections? if not try that first if it still doesn't work try shorting the green and a black wire on the 24 pin connector, but before you do that disconnect al the psu wires from the mobo gpu and drives etc. if the fan doesn't turn on your psu is dead or you have a psu wich is fan doesnt turn on little load then plug in a small thing and look if it works.
oh thats weird, could still be your psu though. do you have another one to test if that is the problem. it could also be your mobo do you have an overclock running? if so turn it back to normal settings. and also after wich times does it turn on again? but i dont think its your cpu or ram but to be sure run memtest to know for sure that it isn't your ram
I don't have any overclocks running. Also got no extra psu to test. The times of which it Turns on again varies a lot. Like i said, sometimes it does it emidiately after shut down. But at the moment it won't turn back on after about 2 or more hours.
Could it be the that the power supply lacks power? It has never shut down when I was idle or just surfing the internet. It always shuts down during heavy tasks like gaming.
I found a post on reddit saying it was especially on 8 core and processors, so that is likely to be the case. Can I switch out vrm or do I have to buy a brand new motherboard?
When you replace the MoBo get an Asus board doesn't even have to be a Sabertooth(though these boards are rock solid) but even the MA99FX PRO R2.0 board is a solid choice.
So the support team responded to my email and said i could return it and they would search for the fault. However if they find it is not faulty they will charge me with a small "fee" and probably return the card. Anything else i can do to make sure it actually is the mobo?
