Need help with PC Build

not true on the Cpu Tek Syndicate did videos on this a while ago, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eu8Sekdb-IE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4et7kDGSRfc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rIVGwj1_Qno the diffrence was nonexistent with the 3770k which is a tiny bit less performance than a 4770k

I kind of forgot that this thread was focused on gaming.  The 8350 is, of course, better for the money, but if the OP can afford an i7, I would shoot for it.

Crossfire @ 1080, Intel pulls ahead, though.  Both ways would be good choices.

i think the $100 you'd save might be useful because the difference is very small and you could use it on a bigger SSD. he only has a 120gb drive and a 240 or 256gb drive could be a huge boost in the programs he could store on it. which would probably boost the programs that intel would perform better in anyways

I prefer the i7, I have all the things I wanted in my PC put into that one, i'm just asking if I could add anything in there for less than the cost of 100$ to improve it

Go with Windows 8, performance increases in games and new DX 11 support. Just use StartisBack to get the start menu back. You won't notice the difference besides a snappier system.

I don't see any pro's with Win8.  I personally hate it.

But if you like it, good for you.  The boot times on Win8 are quite a bit nicer than Win7, especially if you only have a mechanical hard drive.

Windows 8 is an oversized phone, any actual upgrades I could get?

Don't knock it until you try it. I was very skeptical about going with 8 after using 7 since 2009 but after you get the start menu back it is virtually identical to windows 7 and behaves the same way. The "start screen" is stupid, but you don't ever have to see it or use it if you don't want to. Boot straight to desktop and use a program called "startisback" to get the start menu. It performs exactly the same as windows 7. The only real difference visually on my system is the appearance of window borders, but you can change that with WindowsBlinds if it really bothers you. I actually like the new look, it's much cleaner than 7 IMO. I find it faster and with more informative features and tools. Task manager has been redone better. The main reason Why I went with it is because it's going to have a longer lifespan than Windows 7 update and support wise, and the newer DirectX updates are geared toward windows 8. So I guess it's kind of "future-proofing" your system in a way. All of my programs run perfectly as they did on windows 7. Nothing bad besides the start screen and windows apps, which I also dislike, but I never see it anyways. When I turn on my PC it goes right to the desktop and I can start using my PC just like I did with 7. Just much faster and more stable, and it shows after awhile of using it. I have had zero crashes and use all the old programs that I used with windows 7 no problem. The other big change is the color of the retail box from green to purple. It really isn't that different from 7 as some might have you believe. People don't like change and they just dismiss things as worse before they even try it out.

Thank you everyone for your advice ones my new PC, especially The Tech Noob my final build is.
