I dont know where to post this type of topic, but I really needs help. My laptop has a gt 540m with i7 2670, and it has been hitting 90c ( cpu) and 70+ c ( gpu ) when im playing games like LOL ( high setting), CF GO ( High). Is there anything i could do to fix this or do I have to send it to customer serivce. Because I know it not safe for a cpu to run at 90c or gpu to run at 60+
yeah, that is far hotter than it should run.
it's probably dust clogging the inside, go buy a can of compressed gas, usually called 'dust remover', and carefully stick the straw into the intake slots on the bottom, and blow out all the dust.
at least, I think that's how your supposed to do it, I haven't had to yet, but i've cleaned out a desktop before... with a vaccume cleaner....
Yes dust it out. I would look into a laptop cooler. Doesnt need to be fancy, just something to prop it up a bit to let some better air flow in.
got a sf19 and it reduce about 2c for both, and intake or exhaust?
this my laptop Gateway NV57H13h
Its not really going to reduce temps, but more alow the fans to flow freely. Still gets hot, but it wont choke out. Clean it all out.
So open it up?
No. compressed air, just blow it in all the vents. You can open it to get a better clean, but if you are not comfortable with it I wouldnt be doing it.
Check the thermal pads. Thermal pads will melt. Also replacing the thermal compound might help
I reduced the CPU power to 80% now it 75c I'll try to replace the paste and clean the fan. What's a thermal pad?
Thx for all the help.
Thermal pads are thermal paste in a solid form, they're easier to apply, but are not as good as thermal paste preformance wise. Since they are solid they are most of the time made up of a bit of silicone, which can melt if the chip gets to hot.
