Hey guys, i just built a pc and to my infortune decided to install Windows 8.1, i also wanted to install kali linux on a diferent hard drive, which i did but on the setup for kali linux i couldn't install grub so i decided to ignore that and just select the option when the machine boots to boot from the hard drive which has kali linux installed, i have tried to do this and have been failing for about half of the day, could you guys help me in some way?

You use Kali Linux and then throw w/e computer you used it on in the garbage.

Hey! @rollymaster quit being such an arrogant shit! this is exactly the kind of content @wendell and @Logan don't want to see, Everyone including you are learning at some level. @manson4991 Kali is a set of penitration testing tools. instead of installing make a live USB and boot on a laptop. then you can test your network and learn about it with kali + another PC on a network to see what traffic would look like.
To elaborate, Kali is pretty much a hacker distro, in that it includes certain pieces of software that assist in breaking or manipulating stuff. You're not supposed to install it, firstly because it would be ironic, and also if you do something stupid it prevents you from being especially stupid by being traceable. Besides, it's not really a system for security itself. There's not much you would do with Kali that you would want to save anything usually.
Tails is the same in that you can't install it, though it's for anonymity purposes rather than hacking stuff. In either case, you don't have to throw away your computer when you use it, especially if you're just testing a network, unless you're not trying to do something that will get you in trouble (or you're paranoid).
Thanks for the replies guys, i do not intend to do anything that could get me in trouble i want to learn about hacking and plan on using my computer with the help of virtual machines. Let me try that.
Not being arrogant Kali linux is a cracking operating system it's made to do illegal things. I want to avoid that on this forum. If you want to do illegal things go elsewhere.
Why would you assume i will do something ilegal, that is kind of like the argument that if you have a gun you must be a criminal.
hacking =/= illegal. As @LimesLimesLimes said, Kali is used for penetration testing. The cybersecurity team at my school uses it to test their network setups. It is useful both as an educational tool and a testing tool. They've placed quite high in a few of the cybersecurity competitions as well.
That said, there are three different kinds of hackers: white-, gray-, and black-hat hackers. If you're hacking maliciously, you're a black hat. If you use your skills only to help and assist, you're a white-hat hacker. There are also gray-hat hackers. Sure, Kali is for hacking, but to say that it's purely for malicious purposes could be attributed to the sort of argument that encryption is only for people who want to hide all the bad stuff that they do.

As mentioned. It is not intended for use in illegal activities. That's like saying the roads and van are illegal because you can use them to kidnap someone.
Kali Linux is a legitimate pen testing distro. Its used widely in the security industry. There's nothing illegal about it* or its tools* and using it doesn't mean your breaking the law unless you break the law using it. And you can that with many things not just Kali.
