Need help with GPU Selection!

I'm considering upgrading from my current GPU unit, a Galaxy GTX 650.

My budget is ~$180 and I'm considering getting this as an upgrade.

For those wondering about my CPU, I'm running a AMD FX8350 8-Core Processor at 4.0 GHz. So, for the money, is that a good upgrade, or should I go with something else?

You could get something considerably better with that budget. You should be looking at the 7870, or 270x. Probably play 9/10 games on ultra at 1080p.

I just happened to find a 7950 + 3 free games for less than $180 after MIR and discounts:

If you could stretch that budget to $200 you could get a 270x which are pretty sweet cards, also there are some 270's at the 180 mark but they are hard to find...the 270x is slight better tho providing you got the room and power supply connections.

Well, I said ~$180 because that's just me being generous. In reality however my budget is probably going to be around $150.

What if I could manage $300? What would be the best option then?

An R9 280x

Make sure your power supply is sufficient if you are upgrading to the R9 280x.

7870 hasn't done me wrong yet. With it so close to black friday it might be worth waiting. If anything, that would allow you to save up a little bit more, and do some more research.

If I decide to go to $300, it'll be January before I upgrade. Also, I have a 650 Watt Power Supply. Would that be enough?

Wait for Black Friday/Cyber Monday to come around
