Hey,
I am an experienced builder, however, I have little experience with server hardware. Currently I'm building a server to back up my systems. For that I'm going to use a Supermicro motherboard (X7DBR-E with a link here: http://www.supermicro.nl/products/motherboard/xeon1333/5000P/X7DBR-E.cfm) and looking at the board I noticed it has a RAM slot on the bottom of the board (the laptop style shown on the top left in the picture on the site). Since it is an older board I can not find where it is actually used for, and again, I'm used to dealing with desktops so this is new territory for me. Does it have a use? Will the board work if I do not install RAM into it? I would love some input so I can get it running when I get the board in.
Thanks :)
