Need help with a p5800x boot drive

I only have my GPU connected and another WD 2TB drive in the secondary M.2 slot. There is no ‘main’ nvme drive in the M.2 slot 1.

It is confirmed running at 4x4 in the bios. My mobo has 2 4x4 slots.

Yours got worse?

Hey sorry for the rage reply. Yes my p5800x is noticeably worse than the day I bought it on crystal disk mark. I even think I saved the original results when I installed windows 11. I am now seeing like 15-16us latency on random 4k r/w and nowhere near 300/300mb/s… It’s probably time for me to build the Linux workstation I have been dragging my feet on for years now. I will post pictures if I can find them.

No worries, thank you for the reply!

I would be interested to see if you ever find them.

Makes me feel kind of better but bittersweet haha

Still thinking if I should try the nvme M.2 to U.2 or just keep the pcie slot…

Agree with you on Linux but for a number of reasons Im stuck on windows for now.

At least with Windows Enterprise, you can turn off and disable copilot/telemetry etc in settings, gpedit and powershell but it is a constant struggle.

I dont know who Microsoft is developing Windows for anymore. Most of this crap like onedrive/copilot should be optional and not shoveled down everyone’s throats.

Your numbers do seem low to me - would you be up for running an anvil benchmark Anvil's Storage Utilities Download ?

I am running a only 400gb p5800x and got this on my boot drive W11 (latest), albeit AMD 9950x proc x870e hero mobo running on nvme > u2 cable:

Anvil:

Here is same P5800x on my EPYC native U.2 for reference:

Clearly a hit for not using a native u.2
