(sorry if this isn't allowed)
You really shouldn't have rushed into this considering this machine is crucial to your school work. Getting linux running dual-boot should have been precedded by reading plenty of how-to's or tutorials before starting a panic thread (Yes, I read the other thread too) and relying on play-by-play help from strangers who can't see your laptop to fully asses the situation.
That being said...
Don't panic
The last thing you want to do right now is panic and do something stupid like wipe your hd partition table.
I'm no expert, but I see a couple obvious things....
- Since your linux and windows are sharing the hdd and you installed linux last, you overroat the mbr. This is fine, but it means that the only way into your windows OS is through grub.
- It appears you fucked up your grub config. This is mendable.
- The simplest option right now is to boot from linux live-usb.
- READ MULTIPLE TUTORIALS before you rush into your next step. Trust me, computer woes only get worse and more complicated when you try to blindly brute-force your way through the problem. READ.
Now, here's a possible lead to the solution. However, I'm not going to hold your hand and step you through it. You will need to google this stuff down and read the plethora of tutorials out there.
- Make live-boot linux usb and boot from it.
- Mount the linux partition of your laptop's hd.
- chroot into it.
- Proceed to repair grub bootloader.
- Boot to windows through grub.
Not a laughing matter but, since @eidolonFIRE gave you great advice.

Sorry i may have exaggerated on how bad it is. I would prefer not to format it but its ok since its a new laptop and i dont have any really important documents on it
A possible option.
put in a windows recovery disc.
turn on the pc
click troubleshoot
click command prompt
type bootrec /fixMbr
restart pc.
You have to give us more info. What happens when you try to boot?Which distro did you try to install?
How did you install the OS? etc
He did actually.... if you read more carefully you will see this link in the first post... :|

I saw the link but that links to a 192 reply long post. Its pretty impossible to find the information there unless you followed the thread from the start.
We need a tl:dr version here.
Its not impossible. I did it in just a few minutes. There were loads of pictures in the thread... If you're not going to bother reading the provided background info, don't bother posting a complaint that there isn't a tl;dr.
i tried to install open suse
thanks guys I successfully got windows to boot again
Can you post how you achieved this? It might help others.
