Need help to upgrade PC

My friend wants to upgrade his PC but he has only 250$ to spend. He wants to change his gpu which one would be the best?

His rig:

CPU - Intel Pentium G2010
GPU - GeForce 210
RAM - 4 gigs
PSU - 220v

I hope you guys are gonna help :D

What does he usually use his computer for? Does he use it to play games? browse the web? photoshop? 3d modeling? etc etc etc

We also need to know the wattage of the power supply.

as wiemerimer stated, the wattage of the PSU is needed.  Model and brand would be very helpful as well.

Hello..... I don't think anybody is home

but I will try .... it is hard to read at the end but... it reads .... PSU 220v

In my uninformed & kind of buzzed opinion  ..I think...I would.... tell your friend to save up another $200 and then return here and tell us how the PC will be used....And I am confident that any one of us here could recommend the optimum parts list to assemble a budget friendly.... yet very impressive performer for you and your friend.

We need to know the brand of the PSU your friend is currently using, so we can choose the right upgrades for your friend's PC. The CPU and the amount of RAM suffices most games, but upgrading the RAM to 8 gigabytes with 1600 megahertz of speed is needed for most. Definitely your friend's GPU needs an upgrade.

It would be very helpful to have the mobo's make & model #  so we can fully access your system before we form any real opinions

I completely agree with sardineboy's appraisal of your GPU

Why would the ram NEED to be rated at 1600?

RAM frequency doesn't necessarily need to be rated at 1600 mhz - I recommended 1600 mhz because currently from a performance stand point, it's not too fast and not too slow, with that reason, PC users consider it as a sweet spot. The performance variation from 1333 mhz to 2133 mhz is very unnoticeable from my experience in PC gaming - I overclocked my Team Elite 8gbx1 1600 mhz module to 2133 mhz, and I haven't noticed any difference in frame rate. If you're considering 1333 mhz, heck, why not? You can always OC it to 1600 mhz or even further to give you a good feeling.

If you put it that way then i see where your coming from. It just seemed a bit of an odd thing to mention because there isn't much performance gain when it comes to ram freq. Games would run just fine on 1333
