NEED HELP on Radeon 5970

I have a sapphire radeon 5970. Just recently I was benchmarking it and my monitor went to sleep so I thought that my computer just turned off my screen for not using it. The sound was still going and the fans were still spinning. My screen wouldn't turn back on so I restarted my computer and my radeon 5970 fan went max out and a red light came on the back of the card. So i disassembled it and find this. My fan has been rubbing on my caps! So next day I went and turned it on and it ran flawlessly so it this something I should be worried about? The fan wasn't loose or anything. I also put glue on the top of the caps and it never rubbed on the caps or anything so I dont know how it did it because I can't push the fan down to even make it rub. And today I tryed to run MSI Kombustor and it would load. It crashed as soon as it loaded. I'm starting to think it is my power supply. So can anyone help before I go and spend money on a new power supply and learn that it may be my graphics card?!?!
Thanks!

I forgot the pic.

I would put some electrical tape where it rubed and ya you psu might have big power ripples or somthing

Caps look fine.

Just make sure the fan is not doing that.....and it should run fine.

Make sure everything is put back together with 150% accuracy, and always replace the thermal compound once you have removed the heatsink.

OK thanks and I did replace the thermal pads and thermal compound and I have 4 12Volt rails in my power supply so soon I will get a 950 sing rail power supply.

Try to keep us up to date with what is going on with your card mate, if anything comes across odd, feel free to post info :)

ok thanks! Peolple on this fourm site is a lot better at replying than other sites I have been to.

Hey I found that it is my power supply. I have a 120mm blue led case fan that plugs in via 4pin molex and on the system it came out of it glowed bright enough to blind you and on my gaming computer it is very dim and doesn't spin as fast as it did in the other system.

So until i get a new power supply I will have to use my old powermac G5!!

LOL G5!!!

If it is PSU, that is at least your problem solved, we hope :)

yea me too ill post a pic of my G5's sound system its a monster of a system. 3000 watts of speaker power for a G5 lol

LOL

I have it set as my profile picture

Haha, car subs :D

I had a setup similar to that when i was in the forces, my room had my PC power supply (750 watt PSU) powering my 6-channel JBL amp+ Vibe Black box mono bass amp, with a Vibe Space II sub (3000 watts), had 2x 6x9 Fusion 190watt speakers too, sounded the baws!

Yea I have 2 old 10inch MTX Thunder 5000's and 2 Kenwood 12 inchers. And 2 5.5 inch random speakers that I put in the speaker boxes lol.

xD nicely done!

yea and when I get my new power supply HOPEFULLY I can run games without crashing and overclock my amd 1045t higher its at 3.2ghz and it won't boot if i go higher.

Hopefully :)

Yea. Thanks for the help!!! I would be screaming at my computer or hitting it with a hammer or something lol. xD (Not really)

LOL, madness!

And no problem :)
