Need help on CPU

I am really not sure at all which brand to choose first of all, I want a good processor (with a motherboard that the processor can be probably upgraded in the future as needed) and I was first thinking of getting the AMD FX 8350 but I keep hearing (I dont know if they're rumors) I wont be able to upgrade to a better one because that is more of a dead-end, and a lot of people say Intel is better and I don't know if I should switch to that or not, can I have some help please? Most I want to spend is $200-300 on it, with that I will need a good motherboard someone can suggest?

I would get an ASUS Z87 motherboard with LGA 1150 socket with an intel i5-4670k processor. Becase first of all they run on the current generation Haswell CPU architecture. And secondly the next gen intel CPUs (Broadwell) will run on LGA 1150 socket as well. The 1150 socket is a kind of physical connector between motherboard and CPU. The cpu cost 250$ on newegg.

These are planned to be released in Q1 of 2014 (not for the pc though) these should come Q2-Q3 (correct me if i'm wrong). So if you want you can buy an i5 4670k now and decide whether you want to upgrade or not, 6 months down the line, when Broadwell is released.

All of this means very little, but what i'm saying is that the 9th lineup of intel core processors will be on an LGA 1150 socket just like the current generation is.

Do you already own an existing build?  If so, what are your current specs?

No I do not, I just have a mediocre gaming computer from 3 years ago (dual core amd 2.8ghz, 3gb ram, GTS 450) So Intel is the way to go? Because AMD everyone recommends on building with a 8350 but I guess that's a dead end if I wanted to upgrade in the future?

There really isn't a wrong or right answer here.  It just depends on personal preference (and your budget of course). Both AMD and Intel offer strong CPUs for the money.  The 8350 is a solid option; however, we do not know how much longer the AM3 socket is going to last.  We do know that Intel released LGA 1150 not too long ago, so I'm sure it'll see maybe an upgrade or two before it is phased out.  But would you really need an upgrade path?  So far the trend has been around 5% increase in performance from Sandy => Ivy => Haswell.  So would it be worth it to go for Intel?  Or would it be better to just stick with AMD for about 3 years, and then see what your upgrade options are?

Here's an Intel option...

and AMD...

I need more information before I can offer any real advice.  What do you plan on doing with this computer?  Are these the only upgrades you can afford at the moment?  Or do you have a larger budget set aside for other components?

I will say this much: if you plan on gaming, the FX 8350 may be the better option.  It's a bit cheaper, and with the release of the new consoles, I'm sure those extra cores will come in handy in future games.  We're already starting to see better utilization in games like BF4.

Well the FX8350 is deffanetly a good option, even if amd drops the am3+ socket. Futured games with mantle or even without mantle, just gonne be more and more optimized to use more cores, so with the FX8350 8 core, you would be fine for the next upcomming years. about intel and future sockets, yeah hasswell just launched but hasswell was allready dead on launch day, because they where allready working on broadwell, anyway broawell will be comming next year on socket 1150, and in 2015  the socket 1150 will be also dead. intel never stays longer then 2 years on one socket. and with every launch of a new socket or a tik on the current socket, there is mostly not much improvement wenn it comes to gaming

But back to the main question, if you on a tight buget, go amd FX8350 great bang for buck the money you safe, trow in a better gpu, because thats still what its all about.

grtz Angel ☺

I use the FX-8350 over clocked on stock cooler to 4.1GHz ya i know over clock nerds that i need a hyper 212 evo :P but ya for the budget builds like mine its great look at my profile for my build and that should help u out with compatibility issues DO NOT GET the LE version of the Mother Board unless u are on a very tight budget
