I've very nearly completed my first wunderwaffe, but have realised I haven't really given much thought to the OS. I'm looking at windows 7 premium (I don't really play a lot of recent games so directx12 isn't really a bother for my), and I've found a reputable seller on Reddit (apparently these kind of transactions aren't as shady as they seem), however I'm not sure how to actually install the OS onto the computer from usb. I've looked around and windows 10 has a useful installation package thing you can copy onto usb that you can work with, but Windows 7 seems to be far more convoluted. Can someone help me out here?
So is the way to do it by activating the product key, which then gives you the ISO files. And then you copy those files onto a flash drive and boot from that drive on the new computer. Is that about how it works?
(sorry about probably enragingly stupid questions, pretty new to this kinda thing)
No questions are stupid, don't worry. Basically you want to download the win7 ISO from somewhere if someone is selling you an activation key, so you'd want to:
1: Download the ISO file 2: Burn it to a disc or write it to a thumb drive (use the appropriate program to write the file, don't just copy to the drive) 3: Boot the disc/USB & install 4: Activate with the product key you bought
Honestly I don't know where to download win7 from anymore since M$ nor resellers will sell you win7 anymore, even tho it's fully supported for years to come (hypocricy much?)
I think I've figured it out. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/windows7 Lets you download the ISO files providing you have the product key - which I can get from the bloke on Reddit. Then save the files to a flash drive, and then reenter the product key when I boot from the drive in the new computer. Awesome.
