Need help fixing damaged charge port Toshiba Satellite L300

Hi there. I found an old Toshiba Satellite l300 in one of my cupboards yesterday. I’ve got it running Ubuntu 16.04 and it seems to be ok despite having a damaged HDD (will be replacing). The only issue is the area around the charger port is damaged and as a result I’ve got to mess around with the charger in order for it to charge. I’ve noticed that whoever had this laptop before has tried to use some kind of rubber around the port and I was wondering if I could do something similar. I’ve no experience with non-conductive materials and have never tried anything like this so any advice would be appreciated.

ive found on toshiba’s , the ground inside the plug is weak and bends enough to no longer make contact. ive reached in with a dental pick and bent it back out to fix the issue.

Easy and cheap fix.

The issue isn’t the charger port itself it’s the laptop casing that’s broken around it and it’s not loose.
