Hey everyone. After watching the curing consolitis video I thought of doing something similar but I quickly run into some problems, so i was looking at a used HP prodesk 600 g2 sff with an i5 6500 I thought that if a bought it I could just add a video card but after looking around online I saw that its pcie x16 can only output 35w max. Now this is my question why cant it output 75w like the usual pcie x16 slots? Is it because its hardwired or something or is it bacause the psu is just 200w and if i just replace the the psu with a higher wattage one will it be able to run a 1050 ti or similar video card?
Yeah probably going to need a slightly higher wattage PSU, but if you want you can try getting either the low profile RX 460 or the low profile 1050 ti and try it to see what happens. If it doesnt work then oh well, if it does then cool no worries there.
No way to say for sure with the limited amount of information we have. Links? where does it say it onyl ouitputs 35w?
The motherboard may be wired that way, custom OEM boards can be quite different from the standard stuff you buy when building. Or it may be the PSU. Sounds like both are possible, juding from the stated power requirements of those graphics cards, I'd say you almost definitely need a higher wattage PSU.
Thanks for the quick reply guys! Here http://www8.hp.com/h20195/v2/GetPDF.aspx/c04818340.pdf on page 22 under SFF its says PCIE x16 can only output 35w max. And also I have not yet bought the prodesk yet, I want to make sure I will be able to use a decent video card with it before i buy it.
