Need help choosing parts for a BF4 build

hi i need help choosing parts for my new build, i want to essentially build my new rig round BF4 i have a £1000 budget ($1600) any suggestions on what parts i should get.

thanks.

*****BF4 sorry

Do you have any parts already or are you starting completely from scratch?

i am starting from scratch

CPU: Intel or AMD?

GPU: NVIDIA or AMD?

not fussed on the cpu but i would like to try the R9 280X gpu

he wants amd if he just wants to game....

Well I went on newegg and poked around a minute:

So everything with a star was just from a kit. I didn't put much thought into these, just an example but I got the 280x in there you mentioned. Total cost was $1.1k with shipping (US).

maybe somthing like this http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Jexa/saved/2FsE

For Battlefield 4, you want to get one of these builds (read the bottom of this comment cause I made a few mistakes):

http://uk.pcpartpicker.com/user/Sheepyy_/saved/2Fw8

Pros:

  • Intel chip gets slightly better performance in most games, not sure about BF4 though
  • Intel Motherboard has better upgradability of CPU (i7 later on)
  • Will definetely play BF4 on Ultra at around 60fps... probably much more once mantle is out
  • Good overclocking. Not the best but it's pretty decent for the price of the motherboard.
Cons:
  • Intel is slightly weaker than FX 8350 in very few games.
  • Costs more

or

Pros:

  • FX 8350 is better in a few games.
  • Will definetely play BF4 on Ultra at around 60fps... probably much more once mantle is out
  • Good overclocking. Not the best but it's pretty decent for the price of the motherboard.
  • Costs less for almost equal performance
Cons:
  • Intel is better than FX 8350 in quite a few games
  • No upgradability past the 8350

READ:

Damnit forgot to include an SSD in the builds -_- get a Kingston HyperX 3K something, they're great (look at Logan's build videos for other good SSDs)

or you could get a nicer case idk, I just re-used build links from another build I suggested a while ago.

Cases I recommend:

  • Fractal Design R4
  • NZXT Tempest 210 (if you're on a budget)
  • Overly expensive case, you can get much better for the price
  • He can afford a 990X/990FX motherboard at this price
  • Way too much to pay for 8GB of RAM
  • 5400 RPM HARD DRIVE?! Not even a good one either, WD's good HDDs are their Caviar Drives
  • Way too much to pay for 650w... there is no need for Gold certification at this price point.. especially EVGA, they make pretty bad PSUs
  • He didn't mention needing a monitor and he could've gotten a better one @ £1000 budget (Hanspree are generally pretty bad. Viewsonics are much better low-price Monitors)
