How do you plan on using it and for what ? The best question i can ask.
I'll be using it for gaming mainly, I have a gtx 1080 so frames are not an issue. I wont be playing competitive shooters or twitch games much so 100hz+ monitors are not needed but ofcourse I wont overlook them.
So mainly ultra settings gaming, watching movies (the regular thing).
and which monitor would you advise then? The Qnix you linked? because if its the same panel does it also have the same colour reproductino etc?
It's a PLS panel, which is a different panel type than IPS but has essentially the same characteristics as IPS - great color reproduction, steep viewing angles, higher contrast, blacker blacks, etc. There are other monitors that use IPS, Super-IPS and AH-VA, but for all intents and purposes they all nearly as good each other. Whatever is cheapest should work best as long as it isn't TN.
The one I have is an X-Star, which is AH-VA iirc. But between it and IPS, I can't tell the difference.
At the end of the day, you may not have to spend the full 600 euros to get a pleasing experience.
My advise would be 27inch to avoid having to use antialisting = input lag, with anything less then 5ms response time and 75Hz or overclockible 60Hz panel. ( Use nivida Inspector to frame cap your game's. e.g 60Hz = 59.7 frame cap. ) - I'd say this method is better for online gaming, G sync more for Offline gaming )
I've had this one for about a year.
I LOVE IT.
The input lag is very low so it's good enough for gaming too.
I have one of those 27" QNIX monitors. I think it's a great monitor for a bit over $200USD on ebay and I highly recommend it but I also recommend you get a table that's stable if you haven't already. I originally used it on one of those unstable portable fold-out tables and it wasn't a great experience as typing on my keyboard would cause the monitor to shake a bit. The poor quality plastic stand doesn't help much with dampening the shaking.
Well since topic starter is from Europe, i dont think that Korean monitors are realy a good option.
With a GTX1080, it could nice to have a G-sync monitor yes.
Allthough it might not realy be needed.
But i do think that it would be nice to have a higher refresh rate monitor with that GTX1080.
I think that @JokerProductions did some reviews on the Asus ROG Swift monitor, and the Acer XB271HU.
Maybe wenn he reads this post, he might share his thoughts on this topic.
Hopefully he doesnt mind that i trow in his video´s.
I think that the Acer would be a better buy.
Allthoug those monitors might be a bit too pricy.
Maybe you could also checkout what LG has to offer.
Most IPS panels exaly come from LG.
So maybe they have a nice deal on a nice G-sync 1440P ips monitor aswell.
In all reality name brand monitors rated at 5ms are usually 8-10ms in the real world whereas the response time rating on Korean monitors is usually accurate. Don't worry about it.
Given his budget he could save a bit buying one of the first gen. Acer panels like the XB270HU that I'm currently using. I've seen them below $600 now and even cheaper if you get a certified refurbished one from Acer. Avoid anything TN like the ROG Swift, that thing was awful.
Yeah i agree about the ROG swift with the TN panel.
I'm personaly not a huge fan of TN panels in general.
There also seems to be a ROG swift with ips panel.
But that one costs over €800,- uphere.
