Need help building my first PC!

Hello everyone,

I am currently figuring out a PC build that I could use for gaming and also doing my university work such as digital painting and 3D modelling. Right now my current budget is about £450, and I am willing to add a little bit more when I manage to save up for the money.

Here is the list of hardware that I am currently looking at:

Also here is the Power Supply (which I could not find in PCPartPicker):

Corsair Builder Series CX 600 Watts ATX/EPS 80 Plus Bronze Power Supply (£56.36 @ Amazon UK)

EDIT: Is 600 Watts too much for my build? Also I did not include an Optical Disc Drive because I still have a few laying around in my room.

Yeah it is too much. Don't get a green drive, I have one but haven't used it much so I can't speak from experience. Still listen, 7200RPM will be significantly faster and the difference in price is minimal.

Other than that it's a great build and it's you don't need to add anything but maybe try to upgrade the graphics card once you save up and sell the older one. That in the case that you're a serious modeller, gaming-wise this is good.

600 watts is too much? if so, how much watts should I aim for?

It's not a problem getting a 600w power supply, it won't consume that much power unless the PC draws out so much (and it won't), in fact it's usually more energy efficient to get a bigger PSU.

I'd get a 500W if I were you, it's enough for both a processor and a top of the range video card upgrade in the future. A CX500 is good. It's got a lot of amps on the 12v rail and that's what your looking for first, not wattage. My CX420 would probably run that system well but if you think in perspective, buy today what you'll recycle later, the difference in price is minimal.

Okay thanks for the replies guys, I should be buying the parts by next week and maybe I will share the build later on.
