Need help building a PC

I recently came into some money and I am looking for a beast of a computer. I am going to be using this computer mainly for gaming. I need help because I don't know a whole lot about computers. My current computer is a hand me down from a relative and it is slowly falling apart (as it is 7 - 8 years old). I am switching from console gaming to mainly pc gaming. Note: this is not a budget build so go wild. I just don't know shit about building a PC and picking parts, so any help is greatly appreciated.

how much are you willing to spend?

up to $5,500.

yeah you can get the best of the best. but you don't have to spend more than $5000 dollars. maybe $2000 at the most.

Thats even better lol

boom. the absolute best you can get.

Any reason why you didn't go with an X99 build? The price increase is well within the budget.

You should do a lot of research before you do something like spending a lot of money.

because it's not ideal for gaming. the quad-cores outperform the extreme parts in gaming.

Of course I should know what I am buying, its not like I am going to buy the first build I see in this post and just wing it. I want my moneys worth and want to know what I am getting and why it is good but I thought that the builds you guys post will be a good starting point for what I should be looking for in a good PC build by the time I put my money into a build I want to know what I am getting.

Spend $2k and go on a nice holiday with the other $3k. The world is a much nicer place to explore than a PC.... my 2c anyway.
~ $2k is build that will pummel any game you could throw at it.

He did say he would be using it mainly for gaming, but the performance difference between the two chipsets, gaming wise is not that large. However, the productivity difference for multi-core applications is huge. Just something to consider if they are planning on using the machine for anything else. Also, the likely hood of games utilizing more multi-thread processing in the future is likely.

I guess just always think about 5 years down the line when building a machine. Especially, because who knows if they will have $5,000 to spend on the next machine.

I'm also looking to build a gaming PC but i wanted to know if i could do it from the pc i have now. For example what parts could i swap or add to make it play games like outlast, GTA V etc... I have a DELL inspiron 530, Intel G33/31 Express CHipset Family, Intel Core 2 DUO E6550 @ 2.33GHZ. Its a 32 bit system. I have limited budget, so i just wanted to know what i could do to make this dino into a lowest quality, lowest fps, shit gaming PC. Thanks!
