Need Help Building a Gaming PC

WARNING. I am a total newbie when it comes to PC parts. Please go easy on me.

I just got Planetside 2 and I can barely play it with lowest settings on my PC.  Skyrim works around 20FPS on max settings.

 I have 4GB ram, AMD Athlon II x4 640 Processor 3.00GHz, and a GTX550Ti.

Sitting on my desk is two 4GB DDR3 ram sticks (ripjaws) that don't fit into my motherboard.

I would prefer to not have to order any parts online, but if I do, keep in mind that I live in Canada. If possible, I would like to purchase my parts from http://www.canadacomputers.com/ (it's a local store) but I also have a Futureshop nearby.

I'm looking to have the plan set it stone before 2013.

Help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I am a bit unsure what you want "us" to do. :)

Build a system? If so what's your budget? Do you intend to do some overclocking?

It would be preferrable to keep my budget under $700.  I'll probably want to overclock some parts depending on how the results are.  I really am not sure..

But yeah, I would love it if you could build a system for me.  I already have a GTX550Ti and two 4GB DDR3 sticks, but if I should replace those, I could do that too.

KABLAM :D

Lol, I've watched this video a couple times already but the guy doesn't go into much detail with the parts.  I was hoping to learn a few things about why I should choose things, not what he prefers. Thanks though :)

Sorry I'm too tired right now to look really into it, I will be looking at it later. Maybe tomorrow not sure.

But I would suggest that you look at an amd fx 6300, due to your budget, and also at something like a amd 7870 / Nvidia 660 as quite sure your Nvidia 550ti is the reason for your low fps so you will have to get a better gpu IMO. Also go look at some cases and find one you like.. as I'm not the one going to be sitting beside it ;)

Just a review of the amd piledriver (Fx 6300)

If its for gaming, get an AMD processor cause its cheaper but still overclockable. (In my opinion.) e.g. the fx 4300 or 6300. Micro ATX motherboards are sick cheap *sicks up whilst looking at prices*, and get a new GPU thats reliable such as the 660. Should be fine with that RAM, you can always upgrade later on.

Reuse your ram!

Other places to save money: reuse your case, reuse your harddrive.

Can even possibly reuse your power supply, too.

^ I agree with the above

This Is without discounts : 794,93$

I did choose some different parts from Jeffrlys, http://pcpartpicker.com/ca/p/tR5z as I couldn't find them on the site so... also it is 94,93$ above budget, that  could be "fixed" if you keep your old HDD and case. Otherwise you could get a Amd 7870 / Nvidia 660 instead of the 7950:

Thank you very much Ranth (and everyone else).

I'm getting what you recommended but I'm swapping out a few parts.

The PSU is getting swapped with http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=33_442&item_id=053054

GPU swapped with http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=43_557_559&item_id=052927

Motherboard swapped with http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=26_335&item_id=046001

Let me know what ya think, and thanks again!

you should pretty much pick the best performing card you can possibly afford: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/GPU12/372

then the other componets doesnt matter that much.. if you think you have 100 dollars more in a month, then get all components except the GFX card now, and then get the GFX card in a month or two.. you wont regret it!

Looks good!
