Alright so I've been watching Logan's videos about "Killing your console", which I have already done and now it's my friends turn. I have already put together a system that comes under 800 Canadian dollars. I'll list all the parts that I put together with their original and sale prices, then talk about the problem I'm having.
RAM: Kingston HyperX Blu Black 4GB DDR3 1600MHz CL9 DIMM $45.99. The reason I went with 4GB of RAM is, I have a copy of Windows 7 32bit, I would like to have Windows 7 64bit on this system but that will cost another him $100.
So the real issue I'm having is, I want this pc to be under 800 dollars Canadian, with windows 64Bit and 8GB of RAM. I'm not really familiar with the AMD side of things but this pc is going to be strictly for gaming, just keep in mind, I am from Canada and everything is more expensive. Eh.
1. The 6800K won't fit in an FM2 Board. You need a FM2+ one. And i would go with Asrock.
2. Getting a 6800K and a dGPU makes absolutely no sense. Get a 750K or a 760K Athlon.
3. The PSU is crap. To be on a budget is one thing, but skimping on others another. Also, 500 Watts are overkill. It's like using a jackhammer for putting a nail in the wall.
I'm putting something together on the canadian pcpartpicker...
500 Watt and 80 Bronze doesn't mean it's a good PSU. There is no Active PFC, the caps ar cheap 85°C Chinese ones. Also the Ripple-Levels are not that good. (It failed even in one of TechPowerUp's reviews)
Just because a PSU has a 80 Plus certificate, doesn't make it a good one...
There we go. 64 Bit Windows 7, 8 GB Ram, 760K and a decent GPU. The R7 260X is to expensive and is slower then the 7870. A decent, 400 Watt, 80 Plus Gold PSU is more then enough for the System (the R9 270X is just a tad more power efficent and my system tops out at around 220-250 Watt at Full-Load - but at 230V, i don't know if it is going to be that much of a difference at 110V...maybe 10-20 Watt)
And all for $752 CA.
You could go with a different Mainboard and add a small SSD (60 GB is enough for Windows and the most important Programs - hell, i even run some games off my 60 GB SSD - , and thankfully to Windows 7's Librarys you can put everything other then the OS on the HDD)
That would add up to about $795 CA, with shipping (according to PCPartipicker...)

But Gigabyte has (IMHO) a crappy UEFI and a bad implementation, how to regulate the VCore. It can only be done with VCore Offset, wich is quite annoying, because when you ramp up the LLC and put the VCore Offset at +0.0250, you'll end up with 1,38 VCore (on the 760K), wich is annoying and not working for more then 4,2 GHz. Appart from that and bad Audio chip isolation, it's a very good Board
I just went over the parts you selected and seriously, I could hug you right now lmao, that is a very nice build, im sure my friend will like it and I will continue to convert people over to PC lol
I have to backpaddle (i hope that's the right word :D English isn't my native tounge, so have mercy xD) there a little: The 760K and the A10 do work with FM2 Boards, but if you buy a FM2 Board now, you will not be able to switch to Kaveri and Kaveri Athlons may be comming with 3 Modules (6-"Cores"). If you buy new and it is somehow possible to get an FM2+ Board, do it ;-) Even if the Kaveri Athlon is going to have only 4 Cores, the IPC should be going up considerably. (Some are speaking about 20-25%)
There is no easier upgrade then a newer CPU on the same Socket (one of the reasons i "love" AMD^^)
