Since I have boat loads of time over summer vaction and nothing to do except make pc builds, play tons of world of tanks. and check part compatibilities in my sleep; I've decided to make a game but being that really uncreative person I am, I need game ideas. I'm going to be using Unity 3D and I don't mind learning a new coding language (only know VBNet). I'm looking to make something different and not a cheap knockoff of another game.
Make a 2D sidescroller that gives you the control of a plumber. The enemies are the evil turtles and squishie dudes. The main villain will be a big turtle guy that shoots fire.
How about a evil futuristic space time travel where you go back and forth in time creating havok by changing events in history. "like what would the world be like if Germany and Japan won" or "if Jesus never gave his life for our sins" or :Dinasuars still walked the modern earth"
No but seriously, I have been thinking about making a battleships inspired game myself (if the movie came to your head first, your an idiot). I haven't tried to develop the idea any further myself really, just making a battleships "clone" would be kind of boring (the board game rules, but i feel there needs to be more in a video game since the human interaction and frustration is what makes battleships great).
To be honest though, anything that isn't a first person shooter would be interesting, the market is saturated with FPS games and its really irritating and boring.
Try the Cryengine 3 SDK, its free and it has a huge map editor in it. I started making a game myself, but i need some extra help with stuff, so if anyone wants to help send me a pm...
Ok so we start off with a sceleton which has been inside a castle since he was born, he has never seen the light and vaguely remembers his mothers face, last thing he remembers is that his mother said "hes got the curse, this is a safer place for him" then she cries and runs out the castle, locking the door behind her, you manage to survive inside the castle on nothing but rats and water dripping from the celing. THEN you start hearing strage noises from the cellar in the castle, you go to explore.... What happens next?
Hope i got you started on something.... or at the very least entertained you... Cheers
anyone played a teeny tiny vb.net game called "soldat". the game died when it went into beta. -.- i loved that game. a remake would be nice.
also: 1) a map shaped on the surface of the cube where all 6 sides have gravity...ie walking on Top face over towards right face and the gravity that was on top face rolls over to right face also...point is, you dont fall of the map. then you put in a red base and a blue base with base caps that control gravity fields on different portions of the map, lock doors, arm turrents. like back in ut 2004 assault mode. but both teams push against each other; attacking while defending. and with certain base captures controlling gravity ie: less gravity, so u can launch a rocket into an enmy and send them flying off the map in a graceful floating splatter off the map. or inverting portions of the map so that you may be shooting at enemies who are upside down from your perspective.
for battleship game: the interactivity could be using the weapons of each of your 5 or 6 ships(torpedoes, mines, cannons, sonar, radar) : but you would make it a turn based game, with each turn allowing you to decide whether to use the weapons of only one ship at a time per turn or moving to a better location. you would also need to consider things like resources, buffs and debuffs.
