Need an audio recording pc

Hey, I'm thinking of starting to record my instruments and I need a dedicated computer so I don't have to move my main pc. I've been considering just getting some kind of portable laptop, but also thinking of building a desktop for it. This will not be used to play games, just strictly non intensive music recording. I'm not really on a budget but I'd love some help on what I should be looking for.

Well, I'm not the best in this area.  I can suggest that you at least get a decent soundcard.  Otherwise, I'm afraid you'll have to wait until someone with more knowledge on this topic comes along.

Well, if you get a audio interface you shouldn't need a soundcard. the only thing you would need would be lots and lots of RAM 8GBs minimum, a decent processor, and you can buy a TB of storage for like 60 bucks

If you need it for just recording you just throwing around idea and not doing any serious recording (thats what I take non intensive to mean) you can just get an 1/8" adapter and plug it into any standard mic jack and record. That way you can get a laptop or something and record whenever you want. My friend used to record himself noodling around on a guitar that way. Just got a 1/4" to 1/8" adapter and hooked his foot pedal up to the computer instead of his speaker stack.

Yea, what I really plan to do with this is hook up a blue yeti I already have, and put it on a stand next to my piano. I'm thinking a laptop could also be a good idea, so I could take it around and play what I've recorded to others. Thanks :)
