Hey guys I recently got a Sandisk 256gb SSD and i wanted to add it to my current system,
but im not 100% sure how to get the best use of it,
I was thinking about cloning my current 60g SSD onto the 256g SSD to be the new boot drive and using the 60g as caching for my steam/games hdd, or just putting the old 60g SSD into wifes PC as a bootup drive, do you guys have any other sugestions or advice for me before i start ?
current PC is as follows
CPU: Intel i5 2500k
Mobo: Asrock Z68 extreme 3 gen 3
RAM: 16GB (4x4GB) DDR3-1333
SSD: Crucial M4 60GB (windows boot drive) (C:/)
HDD's: D: 2tb (steam and games) D: 500g (random crap) G:+F: 2x2tb (movies) I: 1tb (backup files etc)
GPU: SAPPHIRE HD 6950 2GB GDDR5 Dual Fan
Case: Antec Three Hundred
PSU: Antec high currency 750w gaming
ODD: Liteon DVD burner x2
Sounds like a toss up to me. How nice has your wife been lately? hahaha.
It'll probably be nice as a caching drive for your games. I guess it also depends on what your wife's computer specs are. If she has some old thing with SATA Gen 1, it definitely won't be worth it. SATA Gen 2 (3GB/s) will be noticeable, but read and write times will not change much, just access times.
I would use the Sandisk as your boot drive and use the 60GB SSD for a game or 2. Or give it to your wife for her birthday and pretend its new.
I'd give to the wife. That should get you out of trouble for a while.
OR you could fill it with p0rn and send it to the nsa
Wifes pc is as follows, and yea she has been awesome :D
how hard is it gonna be to change her pc to boot via the new SSD on her machine? or is it as simple as just installing win 7 on the SSD plugging it in and setting bios to boot from there instead of the 1TB
CPU: Intel Core i5 2500
Mobo: Asrock H61M/U3S3 B3
RAM: 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3-1333
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 1TB
GPU: 1GB Nvidia Geforce GTX 560
Case: Sharkoon T9 Value green
PSU: Antec Neo Eco 520C
ODD: Liteon DVD burner
Give it to the wife and use a standard HDD for games.
