Need advice/help regarding laptop dvd drive replacement

Hey peeps! :O)
Long story short.... My brother has an old ASUS laptop that he wanted me to install Linux on. Turns out that the DVD drive is bad! Found one online and he ordered it.
Now the problem I have is I am in need of a converter!
This first picture is the back of the old drive.

And this is the back of the new drive.

I'm sure there is a [slimline] converter of somekind for this?
Any help will be great!!! :O)

Your brother bought a SATA drive. You can just get an enclosure for slimiine dvd drives. They're cheap anyways, and you can use it as a portable DVD drive that works with USB.
Here:

Enjoy your new portable drive.

Yep, I had a feeling that tthis would be the best way to go!!! :O)
Many thanks!!! :oD

Hi, I am too late to the party, seems like it is almost cheaper to simply buy the drive it self. Prices compared to the case and a new drive are $3-4 difference. In any case, if you ever need for the future, check it out here!

Got the bare drive a few days ago from overclockers.co.uk and only found out yesterday that the connection wasn't [quite] what I had thought. Still, I'll get it sorted!!! ;O)
Thanks for the link!
