Need advice for getting linux+ certification

So I have been around computers for going on 13 years, and I am looking to break into the professional IT world.

I have lots of good experience fixing computers and working with windows and OSX, and I feel very confident that I can get my A+, security+, network+, and apple certs without too much of a heart ache.

What surprised me was the linux+ cert. I started looking at the practice test, and I had no clue how to answer any of the questions.

I have been playing with linux now for 2 years and I thought I was at the very least smarter than your average brain dead chimp....but apparently not.

Normally when people ask "how do I learn more about linux" people tell them to mess around with arch, or maybe gentoo. Well not only have I done that, but I have played around a lot with linux from scratch too.

what can I do to take my knowledge further? I would eventually like to get my red hat certification, but now I feel like that is probably a long way off.

Getting a general knowledge of linux is one thing but I assume aquiring certifications on different appliances is another story

I would think this would be a good place to start

Maybe consider going for LFCS:

https://training.linuxfoundation.org/certification/lfcs

Companies mostly stick to RHEL or SUSE, then there's the bigger part of the industry who build customs from the ground up, like for embedded devices, infrastructure management or military use.
Point is you can't "learn linux" like yoir average OS, hence the comment about appliances.

mkay mkay, Im liking this a lot better.

I agree with @Ohban, LFCS/E you'll get much more out of. Unless your going for a US government job in which case Linux+ is highely recognised as far as im aware. Linux+ does give you 2 other certs with it.

But, LFCS you will gain more from.

I have no chance then..Believe me i desperately want to change to Linux..I am only 5 years on my cyber world journey but i am seriously thick when it comes to techie world.. I was hijacked from the word go . Now i am learning through my own research how we will probably never be safe and secure online as this is how it is made...

LinuxAcademy.com, Start with Linux Essentials course and move up from there. If you have questions I would be happy to answer pm.

That's odd.
I just took the first practice exam on http://www.certiology.com/
and got 100% even though half of the questions I've never seen before.

lol wtf

edit: at least on the next two , I got a 40 and 50, respectively.

Don't bother, everything I've heard is that you only need A+, Network+, and Security+, in the "+" type certs. Everything else is just to squeeze more money out of you.

Sorry i take so long to answer you people who DO try to help others..

My machine is hijacked and it is up to them when i see ANYTHING..

@dot404 @nx2l @HK-47 @Eden

The people who have hacked me are local and were so called friends..

I see that most hacks are produced mainly to work on macs with
Linux..Yes they are for developers, but the big crime comes through
the programs and software to make an OS better..

@TekSyndicate i get bad vibes when i share you on facebook.

I believe this is because you are the good guys

Facebook is a dirty secret op that is running the 'pure lying propaganda'

I have too many problems with my hijackers being local to be able to
do a 'wipe n clean install'

What i am doing is learning what i need to ATM..

I have no time or interest at this very time to do any courses

My number one is getting rid of every connection that is connected
to my home..illegally

Just to be clear no one on this website has any interest in helping you do anything illegal or anything that is even approaching illegal.

Is English your second language? Nothing wrong with this but the way you structure your sentences makes it difficult to follow.

If you are in fact not a troll it sounds like you need to do a clean install of Linux. Pick your favorite distro (version). I would probably recommend Ubuntu 16.04 because it is just simple. Download it. Get a USB flash drive. If you are already on Linux use the dd utility to flash the usb drive with the downloaded Linux distro iso file and make it bootable. If you are on Windows look up the pen drive Linux utility.

If you buy a book for studying, don't buy just one book, I've seen some books for Sec+ that leave out entire parts. It's best to read a few rather than just one. To be sure you don't miss anything.
