Need advice for $400-500 Gaming PC

  • Approximate Purchase Date: Late March or Early April Hopefully,   My mom -_-  would be buying the parts in the US and she wants websites like newegg, amazon and ncix where ever is the cheapest.
  • Budget Range: $400 - 500 yes. Really really tight budget :'(

  • System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming of course. Games like BF4, LoL, Dota 2, DayZ, Watch Dogs and older games. Surfing the net, Live streaming, Little bit of editing, Microsoft word and other school sht.

  • Parts Not Required: The OS , HDD, Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers, Monitor, Case (Antec gx700) That is all.

  • Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Newegg, Amazon, NCIX or others(US) any website as long as its the cheapest.

  • Country: Will be buying at the US but I live in the Philippines

  • Parts Preferences: AMD Cpu because it is cheap. Gpu - Any as long as it is in the budget and the best bang for the buck. Cheap but good mobo and capable of overclocking like Asus.

  • Overclocking: Yes for the gpu. But for the cpu, maybe cause will use the stock temporarily, no money for after market cooler

  • SLI or Crossfire: Nope.

  • Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080p
  • Additional Comments: These are the builds that I am confused :??:  about:

AMD FX 6300 ,Asus M5A78L ,EVGA GTX 750ti FTW or R7 265 ??? ,HyperX 8GB Kit (2x4GB) CL9 ,Corsair Builder Series CX 430 w or 500w

Or

AMD 760K Richland  ,R9 270 or anything under $200ish , GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H FM2+ Rosewill Stallion Series RD500-2SB 500W

Any changes or recommendations?

Thank You to anyone who will answer

Edit: Found better deal should absolutely run BF4

I'd build this if I hadn't just put one together

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3dE6k if you can afford an extra $20 this will play BF4 at high settings no problem. And you will be set for a few years. Only thing I would do is measure how much room you have between the back of the case and the hard drive tower. If it is more than 10.09 inches then you are good. Stock air cooler should be ok, but after a while if you have cash laying around I'd pick up a Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO.

If you can find an R7 265, do not hesitate to take it right away! Those things are harder to find than a needle in a haystack! In other words, it's almost impossible to find them with the bitcoin mining. But, I recommend getting this 750ti from EVGA.

This graph shows the FPS in these various games at 1080p. Well, actually this graph shows the PNY version of the 750ti (found this on Forbes) but I think EVGA should have better performance than PNY. Anyway, here is the link to the build I put together:

Hopefully this helps you out!

The New Guy

This is what i would get given your budget:

The 7870 will outperform the 750ti, the Athlon has single core performance on par with the FX 6300 and is still very good for gaming, this coming from someone who has a 6300.

Also: +1 for Dota 2

Everything from Newegg 600$: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3dObz

save a bit more ... PLEASE ! you will not regret it ... 500$ for 1080p its a bit to much to ask for that kind of  resolution.

wow i manage to put a SSD in it if you dont want it goes for 524$ and one more thing, everybody is talking about the 750 ti and r7 265 forget that i did put a WAY BETTER CARD the r9 270x from the guys from XFX and is also from newegg..

go for the R9 270X if you want to play most games on high at 60fps 1080p !

SSD's not necessary for gaming,  given the budget I'd skip it.  A 7870 or r9 270 is a better deal, he can just overclock them to a 270x if it's needed.  Mobo is ok.

Those are some solid builds.

Yes, the R9 270X is better if you take the performance at face value. With the 750 Ti SC, it draws so much less power. Not only that but it has Shadow Play which allows for streaming instantly onto Twitch. If performance is all he is looking for, then he should go with your suggestion.

Thanks! It really did help me. I'm going to take a look at the r7 265 but it is always out of stock :(

Hey Thanks for the advice. :D But is the AMD Athlon x4 750k/760k enough to handle cpu intensive games? Like battlefield 4, mp, 64 players? And I'll take a look at the R9 270/R9 270x when their prices go down :) Thanks again.

APU? I'll go with a discrete gpu..  Thanks Anyways! :)

+1 on this.  I would build it.  If you really wanted to save money then you could scratch the SSD and or the CPU cooler.

Add the cooler later on, you can easily do so. Went for a GTX 760 instead, XFX GPU's don't have the best cooling units anyway. Plus a 760 destroys a 7870. It will bottleneck a bit (correct me if I'm wrong), but I suppose you can upgrade the CPU later. Keep the GPU cause it's a beast.

well the difficult part on this build will be the CPU, because if you gonne get an AMD cpu, you will definitely get dissapointed in the perfomance in DayZ and LoL. Thease games are games with a realy bad optimization, for multi core usage, these particular games, just run better on intel.. But offcourse they are also playable on AMD, but the peformance will be less.

intel: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3egQb

AMD 1: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3egPg

AMD 2: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3egOh

The intel option would be the best way for the games you play, but unfortunatly, its abit above your budget. You could cheap out abit, just to grab an i3 or a cheaper motherboard, but i tried to atleast select some quality products! But offcourse you could grab the I5 with a cheap B81 chipset board.

If you cannot afford the intel option, then i would personaly go for my AMD option 1, the FX6300 wil perform better then the Athlon 760K in a wider spectrum of games, because its a 6 core, and it has L3 cache

Wow! Thanks for the info and for the build options :)
Really LoL runs better on intel?  did not know that. little disappointed cause LoL will be one of my main games and will go amd all the way for my budget. :( Thanks anyways! :D

Unfortunatly yes.. LoL DayZ ARMA are typical games who favours intel's better per core performance.

DayZ using the crappy ARMA gaming engine.

I have a FX8350 with a 7870ghz and i can barley get ARMA III over 35 FPS on 1080P single player, max settings. Even an i3 blows me out of the water with this game lol :-(

But most todays games, like BF4 crisis, bioshock and such.. are optimized to use more cores, so then you see the FX6300 run away from an i3 for example. There are only a few games, with a crappy optimized engine.. and LoL and DayZ are 2 of them.

Thanks to all! You all helped me decide. I think I'll go with the AMD Fx 6300 and a gtx 750 ti or an R7 265 if i can find one. Maybe I'll save or wait till the prices go down and stretch for a R9 270/270x. Once again Thank you very much to all who helped/commented. :D

Happy Gaming!
