Need advice 8350 build

I am getting a 8350 and am in need of a good motherboard to go with it. I will be mainly gaming and was wanting to overclock, what would be a good combination with a r9 290x? These are what i had in mind:

Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0

Asus Crosshair V Formula-Z

Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0

Any input would be appreciated Thanks

The ROG boards are generally pretty good. I have used them in my last 2 builds had have been happy both times. They offer a lot of gaming oriented options.

THe Crosshair V FormulaZ is the best board you could get for the AM3+ playform, but offcourse also the most expensive one.

Here is a list i would recommend for an FX8350 in order.

  1. Asus crosshair V Formula Z 8+2 powerphase digi vrm, shielded audio, intel lan
  2. Asrock 990FX EXtreme 9      12+2 powerphase digi vrm, intel lan.
  3. Asus 990FX Sabertooth R2.0 8+2 powerphase digi vrm, realtek lan.
  4. Asus M5A99FX pro R2.0        6+2 powerphase digi vrm, realtek lan

These are in my opinnion the best boards you could buy in diffrent price points. The Crosshair V Formula Z is the best one like i said, it has an intel lan, which i highly prefer over realtek personaly, and it has shielded audio. And the best overclock friendly bios.

The Extreme 9, has an intel lan aswell, but no shielded audio, this makes it second on my list.

Grtz Angel ☺

+1 and a cookie  :)

man, really wanting to upgrade to asrock now

What is your budget?  Also, how much do you plan to overclock, you might want to invest in an aftermarket cooler, maybe a noctua(not cheap, but good to get if you overclock)

Thanks my budget isn't much of a problem i don't mind saving for a bit longer if the boards worth it. I am planing on watercooling and id like to overclock to as close to 5ghz as i can. i think ill go for the crosshair thanks for your input :)

I'm using the asus m599x pro 2.0 as mentioned in a previous post. I'm holding a stable clock at 4.4ghz on an 8350. Good board for the money.

I will vouch for the Crosshair it is very, very nice. Watch for sales and grab one if you can, otherwise Angels list is a good guide.

i can recomend my board

asrock 990fx fatal1ty killer 8+2 digi vrm, the audio its isolated from the rest of he mobo and the codec have a sheild and it have a M.2 socket.and its very good board so far i have my fx-6100 overclocked to 4.5 ghz at 1.46v and the board its rock solid so far

Just throwing this out there but I put a 780 in my 8350 machine and I am so happy with it. I liked the price on newegg for it better than the 290x. If we were talking about the regular 290 it would be a different story but for my budget it was perfect. All of this is assuming that you do not already have a 290x.
