Hello, so I’m getting my first job after college, and I’m thinking of getting a new laptop at some point.
My old one was an asus jh 750 with a 780m and i7 4700hq 24 gbs of ram, and 2 ssds. Was 10 pounds. This is clearly a gaming laptop, but the one I’m searching for now, is just for work.
Trying to spend less than $1000, unless it’s really good. Want it to be touch screen, be nice if it had an ssd, good battery life, and it would be nice, but not necessary to have a blu ray player.
Generally a work place will provide you a laptop if using a computer is in your job description. Are you going to be self employed? I use to carry around my work laptop from work and my personal laptop, gets kind of annoying. Agree with Th3Z0ne, if you want to the defacto work laptop get a thinkpad :)
They'll provide a laptop, but I really rather not use the laptop provided since I will be limited to what I can do with it, plus I really need a new one... What do you think about the one Aremis suggested?
They are going to let you use your own laptop and have a BYOD policy for laptops? Most companies want to lock that down. Some workplaced may also need a v-pro processor for management and a laptop that supports hardware based encryption with TPM chips. Honestly the Carbons are a bit pricy in my opinion a T4xxS would do really well. The lady over and mobile tech review often reviews them if you want to get a better idea of them.
I have a T430S that work provided me. It works quite well and is nice to type on. My complaints would be the trackpad, but this gets better with newer models, it also has an older processor that is a power hog and after a couple years my battery only lasts a couple hours but also newer processors are more energy efficient.
