Hello so I built my pc about 6 months ago and when I put it together I had a small problem, the fan couldn't fit the way that it should because the ram was too big and it got in the way so I ended up having my cpu fan blowing into a computer case fan and i'm pretty sure that this is making cooling my pc a lot harder.
Are there any fans I could get within a 70$ price range that would fit in my computer or is this fan fine?
Dude you have the cpu fan around the wrong way. & There is no need for additional fans.
(<< is fan airflow so)
<<rear fan >>cpu fan ||heatsink|| (resulting in hot air currently being re-circulated in your case)
Im sure you can see the fault. Easy fix is to swap the ram to their partner slots (not that I've ever had an issue with that cooler obstructing ram dimms), then swap over the fan so it blows:
<<rear fan ||heatsink|| <<cpu fan
Fans have an a front (intake) and back (exhaust & has the crossframe).
Also good cable management will help with clean airflow...hint, hint.
I thought you could flip the mounting bracket on those cooler master heat sink fans so it could stay on the same side but blow the other direction. I may be wrong.
Thank you for your help Deejeta Slot 2 seemed to be faulty so I have the ram in slots 3 and 4 and it apparently works.

Does anyone have any additional suggestions for cooling my case? I thought about GPU water cooling but I wanted to fix this problem before I decided to consider it here is my post on it: https://teksyndicate.com/forum/cooling/gpu-water-cooling-radeon-r9-290x/177006
With the fan now in the correct orientation you should have plenty of cooling tbh. Another exhaust fan on the top of your case if you are not happy with the results.
Bugger... - looks like your memory will be in single channel mode. btw it looks as if the top dimm clips arent clipped into the ram dimm enough. If your board does have a faulty slot and still under warranty, RMA it if you can.
As for gpu cooling - the reference design r290's do a very ordinary job at expelling heat. I would look getting say a cheap thin AIO cooler & add to that the NZXT G10 gpu bracket. As long as the AIO is slim (ie a Corsair H60) you'll have enough room between that and the cpu heatsink as you'd have to mount it at that rear fan point.
I also cant stress enough how much unobstructed airflow can make in dropping temps.
Would I remove that part and replace it with a fan or would it just be on top?

As for water cooling, I have never installed water cooling before but I have a slight idea of how it works would I buy these 2 parts and put them together?
About the water cooling; my case feels really tightly packed and I want to be sure I could fit the resvior, radiator, and all the tubes in there. Also the reason i'm trying to improve cooling my case is so that I could overclock. Is there a point where no matter how cold I make my case I cannot overclock anymore?
The h60 is a tiny unit - its only 52mm thick (rad+fan). There is no separate reservoir with these AIO's, being a sealed unit it itself is acts like a reservoir.
Viable options that Id look into
1x H60, g10 bracket, 3x good quality fans - 1x high sp fan to replace the existing cpu heatsink fan (eg Corsair SP120), then 2x high air flow fans for the roof (120mm or 140mm as both sizes can fit).
1x aftermarket cooler for your gpu - (something like this), then the above mentioned fan setup
new case + custom water loop ~ my pick :-)
+ a few others, just comes down to how much you want to spend. Also if you are handy with a dremel, file & paint you can mod that case to fit whatever you want.
You have a very good board and hopefully its a decent cpu (low voltage, high clocker).
(Teardrop) .... All that dust ... As deejeta said above if your mobo. is still under warranty RMA it as Dual channeld is significantly faster than single ... If RMAing isn't a possibility then put your ram back into the original positions as shown in picture 1 and set your cpu cooler to pull so that it looks like this
<<rear fan <<cpu fan||heatsink||
In all seriousness how do you afford an R9 290 but not a can of WD-40 to get rid of that dust?
I couldn't find any videos on how to install the H60 Corsair and the G10 Bracket. Is installing any type of cooler with any type of bracket a good enough tutorial? Or is a tutorial not needed?
sorry - i had my corsair aio's confused in my head - yeah dont use the h60 with a g10 unless you do a little modding.. So an asetek styled corsair h55 or similar is the go.
supported g10 bracket AIO's are -
