Need a good alternative to Imperator

My cousin uses Razer Imperator as his gaming mouse. The problem is, the Imperator is broken after 2 months and he'll be gambling on the warranty as he do not have a receipt. He tried using Deathadder with Synapse acceleration, but he said that it just feel odd. He tried Mionix 7000 but he said that he doesn't like the shape.

As you might have known Imperator is a laser mouse, it has built in acceleration, as a moba player, precision never bothered him and with precision of optical sensor it even hinders him due to long exposure to laser mouse. Is there good alternative to Imperator? I hope to steer him away from Razer.

For some reason, he play with it enabled. I want to steer him away Razer because of their product quality, it's getting worse each year.

The last time I checked, he played with above 3500dpi.

Okay you need to sit him down, slap him, and tell him to get used to being precise if he wants to git gud.

Or just tell him to get the Utech venus mouse, the buttons are great for item hot keys, is he playing dota, LoL or X?

3500dpi? Is his sensitivity in windows really low?

As far as razer goes if you buy their stuff refurbished it's price becomes more reasonable, as far as quality goes I've never really had an issue.

He is a semi-pro Dota player, 5K+ MMR. And your argument of precision isn't good here, Mushi of Team Malaysia uses Steelseries Sensei, a mouse that is freaking inaccurate due to acceleration. And guess what, he raped almost anyone in game with it. Quite a few Chinese pros also uses TTesport's laser mice too.

Yeah, his Window's pointer speed is lower. The issue is that he has a super strong muscle memory to counter that acceleration, making a jump to optical near impossible. From what I have observe, people who got their first gaming mouse in 2011-2013 have this issue due to company marketed high DPI and the large abundance of laser gaming mice. If only my cousin went with the Deathadder back then, things would have been much different.

EDIT:
Using a mouse like Naga or G600 is a big insult to any professional player. I mean you look for professional players that actually use this kind of mice in tournament.

Working on it.

In any case the extra buttons are pretty damned useful for courier commands and misc hotkeys such as "missing". If you get used to them as well it saves you a bit of time on handling control groups in dota.

And besides that just because a pro player uses it doesn't make it right. Just get a big mousepad and shoot for lower dpi, the control is much better generally speaking.

But aside from that why don't you just tell him to get that steelseries mouse then?

It's all about the grip and comfort. Sensei is never comfortable in our hands. And also, he pays only Dota 2, precision hardly matters.

Clearly he isn't a pudge or earth spirit player.

So then like why not get one of the super adjustable mice such as a RAT or orborous. However that's spelled.

I beg differ, his Earth Spirit is very good. People who are used to laser sensor use their muscle memory to point and click to counter that acceleration.

We actually thought of RAT and Ouroboros, but he's worried that both mice cannot take much punishments, both look kinda fragile to be honest. Currently, I have suggested Mizar and Reaper from CM Storm and see if he likes it.

Still, always better to not use acceleration.

Otherwise, Just check out reviews of the RAT/Ouroboros, for $120 the razer one better be durable.

UPDATE:
The RMA is a success, Razer will ship him a replacement Imperator in a week or two.

With that said, many Dota pro players that I know are heavily affected by acceleration. Once they go laser they cannot go back to optical at all. I think it is fair to say, they are the victims of the 2011 - late 2013 DPI wars.
