Well, I can tell the difference between 30 and 60 FPS, and we're talking more about running games well at this point than we are about getting crazy FPS numbers.
An SSD will make your system boot faster and decrease load times for programs, but it's not going to help you at all in-game.
You could always just get the SSD now and get a better video card later though. That would probably actually be better because you wouldn't have to worry about reinstalling Windows later on, and you could spend a little more on the CPU, CPU cooler, and peripherals. It's up to you whether or not you want to wait for a nicer video card though. I've been hearing rumors that new GPUs are going to be coming out fairly soon too.
Ok, i was looking at some PC parts and i noticed This deal on newegg that looks pretty good IMO but I don't know if thats just me.

Now with this i was thinking of going with these parts to finish it off
Optical Drive:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16827135204
Monitor:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009316
mouse/keyboard:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126097
HDD:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16822148697
also got a copy of Windows 7 for 100$ to where the total adds up to 1005$ after shipping and 10 bucks MIN to equal a grand total of 955$
I beleive that for the price the are great parts but hey i'm not that great with the selecting hardware, i am just good with software like Maya(school animation is fun :P)
Thanks for everybody suggestions on what pc I should get because who knows, the deal could get deactivated.
I don't like it. The AMD processor is a no go, imo.
given, the AMD isnt something to worry about, especially the futureproof part. Intel keeps coming out with new sockets every couple of generations and i havent heard anything about FM2 or AM4 sockets in the news recently. so for a first time builder, AMD seemed safer for the occation. I gave him some pretty nice stuff to play with, good monitor, the works. I dont see any cons for him going to an Intel base over an AMD, if he wants, i can swap out the AMD for a pretty good Intel mobo/CPU in its place.
I was talking about his combo deal, and there's no point in going AMD right now because Intel is destroying them. You can spend about $30 more for a 2500K than you would spend for an FX 8150 and the 2500K performs better. The combo deal he posted comes with the Phenom II X4 965, which is worse than the FX 8150. Buying an old Phenom II when you have a $1000 budget to work with is just shooting yourself in the knee.
And I never understood why a beginner should start with crappier hardware in the first place. Get the best that you can with your money. It doesn't take a genius to install a cpu, no matter how much performance it packs.
by futureproof you could say upgradablilty right okay so I get an i3 that beats a8150 in most games and say I want more FPS, okay I have the best of the best of amd so I'm screwed I can get any better than the mediocere FPS it has to offer while intel, I have an i3, I have the entire upper half of the tier to go
figure one

I want more that 45-47 FPS in star craft, I have a 8150 so I can't really get any higher so I'm screwed, but if I have an i3 I can do this
figure 2

is it future proof no, but the point is its more upgradable than amd is
as I have said, I'm not getting this build for a while because I have to wait for the 6 week grading period -_-, so I have plenty of time before I can buy this. I'll look around to see what I can find and keep building on it before I get it.
all right i found another option that i'm gonna pass through for all you AMD haters XD
Bundle Deal:http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboBundleDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.979634

SSD:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820227757
the total is $960 after shipping and rebate, so i can also get a game pretty quick after I build it. I think this is a solid build and I am waiting it by waiting for feedback but hey I'm a noob. :P
vortex's build was much better, and never get a green hard drive, I'll make a build lists myself here in a bit, I'm kinda tired and just made a few
all right, i am open to all suggestion for like 3 weeks so i can still mess around with the stuff. thanks
okay this is similar to vortex's but mine has faster ram, slightly faster CPU, same price too, and that's pretty much the best you're going to get
CPU/MOBO
GPU/RAM
Case/PSU
HDD
DVD

Keyboard/Mouse

now if you have a Big Lots store near you, there are these silvania speakers for 26 bucks that are kick ass, like 50-75 watt good range too
