I am have been doing some computer gaming for a while, but i need an upgrade.(Anything is an upgrade!) Im looking for a build anywhere from $800-$1200. I live in Australia and use Australian currency.
The machine will be used for gaming, particularly games like ARMA 2&3. I like to play games at fairly high FPs and quality. And I am not looking to get into overclocking but i wouldn't mind getting into water cooling.
I already have: 2 8gb kingston ram sticks, 2 300gb HDD, monitor, mouse & keyboard and speakers.
i made this option1: http://au.pcpartpicker.com/p/1uT6h
i realise that those aussie prices are much higher then us prices. But i think that this setup, should be capable, of playing most new games. it could also cheaper, wenn you change the psu, to the XFX 550W 80+bronze non modular, that cost arround $90, if im right.
yes the FX8350 is faster on most games, but there are some games who run better on intel. Logan made some movies about it, FX8350 vs intel i5 i7 and the oc movies. you can find them on this site, but also on youtube.
I made a list too, I highly recomend not reusing old HDDs that have had a good life in youre build as you will regret it when they pass on. Additionally if all you are doing is gaming (especially just arma) then the 6300 should be more than enough as it is the GPU that renders the games and which will be the bottlenecking factor. As for the motherboards apart from propriatery addons and variance in component quality the boards should be more or less the same across a chipset.
Arma is actually not very demmanding at all and FYI I doubt you would need to watercool, if you are after a quiet computer perhaps it would be more cost effective to just get a high grade air cooler (comparable with liquid cooling but cheaper) and throw in some quiet fans?
I would agree with MisteryAngel on the CPU the Amd is the better choice in my opinion.I dont know how it would performe in arma 2 and 3 since arma 2 is a cpu hog and 3 is still in beta so might not be as smooth. Also as like jacob said dont re-use old HHD's.

The two high-end noctua air coolers logan reviewed recently can be found here and here for $75-80 and should perform close too the high-end watercoolers (but more quietly I think) for about half the price of the 240mm blocks.
As for arma2 I don't believe it would saturate a 6300 as it seems to run fine on my system. Too be honoust if you aren't overclocking, don't have a the highest-end, hotest running CPUs or live inside an oven you probably don't need the best of the best CPU coolers. I would save the money and put it somewhere that is going to enhance your experience. I don't know how good the stock coolers are but you may even want to try stock for a while and see how it goes.
