Hey, guys i have recently got a gtx 970 and i am upgrading my current build i need to find a $600 CPU and motherboard my current build is: FX 6350 asrock extream 4 motherboard 1tb WD blue xfx 7870 (have already bought the gtx 970 not currently in yet) i am scared of bottleneck and i thought it was time to upgrade so any help is thanked
Gaming and what else? just to determine if an i7 is an option for you. Basicly for just gaming a 4690K is totaly fine. But if you do a liitlebit of video eding aswell, then you basicly wanne go an i7. Both options will be totaly suitable with that budget you have.
Option 1 with i7: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QwdbCJ
Option 2 with i5: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/DxYXYJ
Cheaper options:
Option 3 with i7: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/TmGkgs
Option 4 with i7: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/cfQRgs
Option 5 with i5: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Zk4Ngs
Option 6 with i5: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/NHgPgs
As you can see i pickedup a few very decent options uphere. there are offcourse also cheaper motherboards to get. But i just selected some decent ones on my opinnion. You could offcourse also look at Gigabyte or Asrock boards if you like.
In my honnest opinnion, if i had $600 to spend on a cpu + mobo upgrade, i would just grab one of the i7 opions in all honnesty.
mostly gaming, some light editing, trying to to collage for comp.sci. also early you helped me with the 970 problem i have $2000 to spend, but 1000 need to go on laptop so is the i7 overkill if i mostly just game? and all $600 has to go to comp. so i7 is what i am thinking
First off, the FX6350 will run the gtx970 just fine, especially if you overclock it a bit. If you got 8gb of ram the only other thing I would change is add a good SSD like a Samsung 840EVO and a good CPU cooler like the Cooler Master 212. The FX6350 is also fine for light editing.
I'm guessing you don't care though and this money is burning a hole in your pocket. Just get a i7 4790k and a Asus Z97 board and you'll have more than enough power. Also Asus makes very good laptops.
