I hope I put this under the right place, sorry if there is a virus place. I have this virus on a work machine that at first installed a bunch of malware and adware that I removed from services, registry, startup, add/remove programs, and ran multiple deep scans with Vipre anti-virus. The virus will not let me check my e-mail, or update my virus software. I can surf the net but I can't install most software, like firefox (when I noticed the problem on the machine, its somebody else's machine :-) It will start to install then the network connection just get interrupted and is cut off. I have went into network and checked all the connections, and none of the DNS settings have been changed, the Obtain DNS and IP are all set correctly. I have ran kaspersky tdsskiller.exe, it found nothing, I have searched all over the net, I have had Vipre log in remotely on a virtual cd boot disk (which I can't use the TeamViewer app in regular mode) to run some tests, they found multiple instances of virus, removed them, and nothing changed. I have loaded Vipre Rescue from a USB stick and all it finds is MyWebSearch Toolbar, and removes it, but nothing Changes.
I am hoping that someone has seen this virus that basically is changing what I imagine to be the executable files not updating. I am kind of at the end of the line. I believe it either comes down to doing a restore point (if that even works) or re-install of OS? Any input or suggestion would be awesome. I am not sure what the person downloaded or what site they got the virus on but this has definitely been a learning experience.
