Nas suggestions CCTV video storage, 120TB

I’m new to the nas thing. I’ve managed a few Dell MS Storage servers. Built a few small Linux boxes as NAS for home. Now I have a project for two different sites that need to backup 120TB of CCTV files. Both sites have DVRs and the DVRs will be pushing older files to the NAS. 120TB just seems a little over whelming to me. Any suggestions where I should start looking? The BackBlaze POD 5.0 look interesting and seem to be reasonably priced.

Thanks

I'm not going to be any help, but I'm trying to wrap my head around how anyone would sort through 120tb of footage if they had a need to do so, my system is 2tb and if not for the front end software (monitoring) saving events that are numbered it would be a very daunting task to go through 30k+ events which is about the capacity my drive will hold before it is set to purge the oldest files.

Good luck....

Usually by date code in the file name, atleast the systems we have. I'm still waiting to talk to the DVR company. I do agree, 120TB of anything would be horrible to sift through. It is for workman's comp cases mostly. I keep telling them, we only need a month. Within 30 days we should have heard if some one went to doctor, we tag videos and save them for long term on some other media. They just aren't listening. I'm hoping once I start giving them the quotes, the sticker shock will knock them back to reality.

Are we talking a local backup server at the client site, or are we more thinking a hosted, cloud-based storage solution? Also, how much data will be written to this daily, on average?

Also, to save on space you could tell the cctv's to only record if motion is detected.

iXsytems would be a good place to take your questions.
