NAS/Server Rebuild

afternoon everyone, I’m seeking some advice for rejiggering my current “loadout” if you will
I have a coming going to be doing a fair bit of video editing soon, that and Id like to finally get my nas/server setup properly so I’m not half-assing things anymore.
My plan with incoming footage to be edited is to drop it onto a local NVME drive and onto a new 8TB mirror on the server.

I’m looking at running Truenas on the 5930k machine, I’m eager for recommendations on the best config, as it stands I have a number of surplus nvme drives and really need recommendations on what should go where and for what purpose. (960Evo 1TB, 960Pro 1TB, 500G&32GB optane)

I’m becoming familiar with how ZFS works with L2ARCH etc, at this point I need suggestions.

Proposed breakup of data across the disks

  • WDRED 2TB& 4TB Mirrors and use them only for Plex& Kavita this gives me ample space for my personal media collection
  • WDRED 8TB Mirror to be used for short term backups of raw video and long-term storage of clips, some of the plex library will live her too as 4K content does not stream well off the CMR drives
